It is a well known fact that by doing some regular exercise you do not only start to lose weight and eventually have the body of your dreams, but also resolve some of the basic problems that almost everyone of us have with their health. Even sleeping problems and especially if you can't fall asleep, can be relieved by doing regular exercise.

Cross Trainer Benefits

Not all the workouts that you can think of serve the same purposes, and when doing workouts on an elliptical trainer you can easily alter the way you are working out to suite your needs and serve your goals.

Almost all the types of workouts you can do provide a good workout to your cardiovascular system. That means that by doing this type of training you are cross training away from hearth and vascular problems and prolonging your life. And the most important thing is that you are prolonging your healthy life. Anyone can live on lifesupport for years, but it is a lot harder to be relatively active even in your final years. Also the non-impact nature of an elliptical workout makes it possible to spare your joints and not eventually get osteoarthritis.

The back strain or even the stress that is put to your lower back is minimal since you are at a natural standing position. That means basically that the angle between your thighs and your torso is more than 135 degrees and enables a natural position for your spine. It is easy to alter the amount of work that your upper of lower body is doing by simply activating your focus muscle groups more. Cross trainers are trying to simulate cross country skiing, and are actually doing a lot better work than the real thing.

You can simply change the muscles working by going backwards instead of going forwards. You do this by changing the direction you are rotating the pedals, and by going backwards on elliptical exercise equipment you are activating muscles that are located in the back side of your body.

Because you are using all the muscles in your body the workout is going to be very effective when it comes to burning calories and activating your cardiovascular system. When compared to running on a treadmill elliptical trainer workouts can burn up to twice as much energy.

Elliptical Exercise Equipment Workouts

It is not hard to set your workouts to match your week schedule. If you decide to get your own elliptical trainer you can do the workouts when you feel like it and most important when you have the time.

The basic thing that everyone knows how to perform on an elliptical trainer is to set up a resistance that feels good, and just stride away for a certain period of time without caring too much about what are the calories burnt, and what is the distance travelled. This is called "comfort-zone" exercising. This is because you are working out at your own level and even though it can feel good to do this kind of workouts they really don't have a lot of benefits. Doing this for ten to twenty minutes before the actual workout will serve as a good warmup, and doing the same after your real training will be a good cool down though.

High intensity interval training is something quite modern when it comes to cardio workouts. It is quite hard to do on an elliptical trainer but can be achieved with good results. Basically it means that you are striding as hard as you can for fifteen to thirty seconds with a high resistance, followed by a low intensity period of thirty to forty five seconds. That will make your body burn a lot of energy and use fat for fuel more easily. It has also been shown in recent studies to be able to raise he HDL cholesterol.

Distance striding is when you set up a desired distance to cross train and do it as fast as you can. Eventually you should be aiming for a shorter and shorter time to get the results you want. Mostly this will serve in preparation for competitions and a good alternative for jogging.

Low intensity aerobics are very similar to comfort-zone exercising since you are working with a low intensity for a long time. Although you should be monitoring your heart rate to keep it between 120 bpm and 140 bpm. It will serve a purpose in speeding recovery after hard workouts and on off days. This is mistakenly considered of being the best type of exercise for weight loss, but HIIT has been shown to beat it with significantly shorter workout times. Combine low intensity elliptical exercise equipment workouts with some abdominal exercise equipment to get a good workout for you body. Even while doing low intensity workouts on your cross trainer you should be focusing on keeping your middle section as tight as possible to activate the ab muscles and give you a better posture and even relieve you from spinal problems.
