Elton John Billy Joel add more dates more tickets more empty seats
47Billy Joel Elton John Face 2 Face Tickets
"Ticket prices will be similar to 2003, when the top price was $175. It's two people for the price of one. Our ticket prices are the same as you'd see anyone else, but there's two of us. In this day and age, we hope to be getting people value for their money."
Elton John on The View in Late 2008.
I figured I would open up with that quote by Sir Elton John as both Himself and Billy Joel continue to add more dates for their upcoming, "Face 2 Face" tour. As of now the dates look like this....
March 2009
2 - Jacksonville, FL - Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena 5 - Tampa, FL - St. Pete Times Forum 7 - Charlotte, NC - Time Warner Cable Arena 10 - Cincinnati, OH - US Bank Arena 14 - Atlanta, GA - Philips Arena 17 - Tulsa, OK - BOK Center 19 - Houston, TX - Toyota Center 21 - San Antonio, TX - AT&T Center 26 - Phoenix, AZ - US Airways Center 28, 30 - Anaheim, CA - Honda Center
May 2009
2 - Fargo, ND - Fargodome 5 - St. Paul, MN - Xcel Energy Center 7 - Madison, WI - Kohl Center 12 - Omaha, NE - Qwest Center 14 - St. Louis, MO - Scottrade Center 16 - Nashville, TN - Sommet Center 19 - Indianapolis, IN - Conseco Fieldhouse 21 - Auburn Hills, MI - The Palace of Auburn Hills 23 - Cleveland, OH - Quicken Loans Arena 26, 30 - Toronto, Ontario - Air Canada Centre
Ok wow that is quite a run and they have not even released all the dates yet. Look, I have seen these two multiple times together and seperate. There is NO question that they are two of the greatest live acts you can see. But at $175 a ticket?? Look Sir Elton, with all due respect, you tour quite a bit and as of late so does your touring partner. It is not as if we do not have a chance ever year or two to see either of you, and together while it is a GREAT show, I mean is it worth $175?? I would say in this economy if I had an extra $175 I would pay down some debt, put food in the fridge, pay the electric bill, maybe buy some clothes for the kids etc. See a night out should cost around $175 in these times and even that is REALLY pushing it. So lets do the math on a night out t to see Billy and Elton. My Wife and I will be paying $350 BEFORE the fees for tickets, then tack on the babysitter and possibly dinner and a cocktail or two at the show, you will have me looking at a $500 night MINIMUM.
Umm that is my car payment.......
Look people like you, will never really FEEL this economy, but you will see it. You have set the ticket price WAY to high for your upcoming shows. When singing I'm still standing, you will look up and see quite a few empty seats. MARK MY WORDS ON THAT. The tour if priced in the $70 range would of been the must see show of the year, instead you priced this as if it is 2003 again, like you said earlier. IT IS 2009 and we are in BAD TIMES.
My prediction is this, here and there you will see some success on your shows. But both You and Billy will have quite a few tickets available on the day of the show at that price and they will go unsold. Also, you will see quite a few tickets UNDER FACE VALUE at www.concertkings.com from brokers who rolled the dice on this show.
Bottom line, great show great catalog of songs you are both true legends but you are legends who are NOT helping the situation with the ticket prices.
