Love Me Tender An Elvis Presley Wedding

Rock N' Roll Theme
Love me tender,Love me Long, Never Let me Go.....
Imagine a Rock N'Roll Wedding with Elvis Presley congratulating and singing to the newly married couple. Guests are comfortable wearing cuffed Jeans and T-shirts, poodles skirts and bobby sox make a comeback as ponytails and pompadeurs will be the lastest hairstyle. Tables will be adorned with old 45's as the part of the place setting, bubble gum, sunglassess and microphones would be the centerpiece for anyone who wants to chime in, and begin singing along with Elvis Presley and the wedding party. What a party it would be as everyone does the bunny hop and hula hoops in the middle of the floor. Although many of us may disagree that this is certainly not a traditional wedding , for others it is unique and as untraditional as one can come close to for many who appreciate the Legend of all time.
Planning
Having a wedding like this if properly planned is honestly quite inexpensive and you can pick up old 45's at a garage sale, or music shop that carries old records. If you go on-line to www.blaircandy.com you can purchase 275 pieces of wrapped bubble gum for $11.00. If you are looking to buy costumes for the special event and they have everything from Blue Suede Shoes to tablecloths that cost next to nothing for your special event, you can log onto www.buycostumes.com, www.heyviv.com orwww.partysupplieshut.com they all have a variety of wonderful things that will shake, rattle and roll with your wedding.
Elvis Honeymoon
After the "Memories" have been made and being "All Shook Up" leading to the event and you realize "It Is Now or Never" when you have to " Follow that Dream" and run quickly in those "Blue Suede Shoes", you and your bride or groom may want to grab a plane and head to Memphis as www.Elvis.com is offering a wonderful Heartbreak Hotel Vacation Package which includes the platinum tour of Graceland which offers deluxe accomodations if you book ahead. Your "Burning Love" for one another will definitely not make you "MoodyBlue."

I figure since Ryan was thinking about an Elvis Wedding that I would be a little creative.:)
fair point, well made.....
I thought you would agree...:)
I have been thinking about doing this. With my DJing for weddings.
I can sing a song or two of Elvis. I would just need dress up like him, and practice up a little. I don't know if I could get the nerve up
Keep on Hubbing!
eovery: You can do it , so many are done in Las Vegas although I had a traditional wedding I think this would have been fun, as it is always wonderful to let your hair down and be yourself. Some of us want traditional and some choose the more relaxed version and those weddings are just as beautiful and just as fun.:)
AEvans..hmm...sounds fun..I'm sure I would have enjoyed this as I am a huge fan of Elvis! A lil too late in the day for me to think of this theme! Enjoyed this hub..Thanks!
Laila, For the dare to be unique wedding crowd , this one would be fun as I have been to a few unique ones in my lifetime and they are absolutely beautiful weddings. Many have to also remember that there are people who cannot afford the traditional wedding so they create there own theme. My husband is an Elvis fan too.:)
I have that album you have pictured up there. Another idea for party favors are those switch blade combs. Party supply places still sell them. Lots of fun! Thanks for writing it!
Good idea and like you said cheap. Why spend all that money on a big fancy wedding. Big fan of Elvis.
What a fun idea!!! I like Elvis, but I am a huge Beatles fan!!! Hmmm...a Beatles wedding...there is even a great Beatles cover band that I know of...
My third wedding was the best :) I woke up on Valentines day next to this amazing beautiful woman that I didn't want to get away and said to her "do you want to get married today!"
She was a bit shocked but said; "Not quite how I figured it would happen; but hell why not if you can organize it in one day."
I worked out my plan and against all the odds we were married at 5:30 on Valentines day 7 years ago.
The best part is I always get a lot of reminders when my anniversay is coming up :)
Christoph: That is a great idea, I never thought of the party combs!! I honestly enjoyed writing it.:0
Moonlake: After all the hoopla is over on a traditional wedding, you realize where else you could have spent the money, I thought it would be fun and inexpensive as the meaning is the same, thank you for agreeing.:)
Anna Marie: A Beatles theme would be fun too, it is all about what you make your wedding that counts, great thoughts!!:)
ZooLoot: That is a beautiful memory and a beautiful reminder, thank you so much for sharing your story.:)
Great piece on one of my all time favorite people, sadly he let the drugs bring to an end a life and career that should have lasted at least another forty years.
i have a new Poem about the King entitled My Private Tuitor i think you woul enjoy. Hopefully we'll get a sound track laid down for it soon.
anyway like your style as I have time I'll read more of your work.
thanks, Doyle
Hi Doyle, I am certainly glad that you appreciated the article, and I would be more then happy to read the poem as it sounds fascinating. Elvis was a wonderful artist and yes he was the King I am certain that he would have flourished throughout the years, however till this day people young and old still love him.:)
Hi AEvans how are you doing today. Looking as beautiful as ever. Omg there is something about Elvis, that is soooo sexy. 'Love me tender' anyday Elvis haha.
You know whether it be an Elvis wedding or a Pamela Anderson style bikini wedding on a beach it would not matter to me if I was about to marry someone I really loved. I am easy, not fussy. Great hub I love reading them, thumbs up.
BP: You are a nut how did you manage to slip this comment through without me catching it??? You are such a nut.:)
Nice hub AEvans!
My first wife and I were married at the Elvis Chapel in Las Vegas. The marriage did not last long, but it was a hell of a party that night. Elvis is one of my favorites. When I was a young teenager, I used to work with an Elvis impersonator. I played guitar and sang back up for him. It is funny when I think back on it, but then it was just another circumstance that formed the person I am today.

motorcyclehelmets: That is so cool!! I love Elvis to and so does my husband I certainly bet it was fun.:)
