These days E-mail
marketing and customer list building go hand in hand with generating very targeted leads. One will not work without
the other. You must have a list to market to. In addition you want a
list of hungry buyers as this kind of list will be far more profitable.
Your objective is to build your list quickly. The main thing to
focus on when building a list is the path of least resistance. Do not
make it difficult for you site visitors to opt in to your subscriber
list.
Keep you opt in box on the top of the site, preferably
on the top right as this has been shown to increase opt ins. Secondly
by having the opt in box on the top of your site it will be visible
throughout your site.
You can also use a pop up or pop in box
depending how aggressive you want to get in order to build your list.
Beyond the opt in box placement you need to provide your visitors with
a reason to opt in. This is referred to as a "hook"
Give them
something of value that relates to what you offer on your site. Don't
just give away free stuff to get them to opt in, instead give them
something of value that they can use right now and that will also
pre-sell your product or service.
In order to build a
responsive list you need to get targeted traffic to your site.
Relevancy is critical, the more you have what they want the more that
they will subscribe and from those subscribers you will do more
business. Always keep your site simple and easy to navigate.
When
it comes to e-mail marketing you need to be consistent. Send your
messages out regularly at the same times. Get your messages out earlier
in the week as you will find that your list is more responsive during
these times.
When it comes to you message keep it simple and
benefit driven. Do not confuse your reader with mixed messages. Vary
your text and incorporate images if necessary, again do not over do it.
Write your content with the reader in mind, keep the tone
conversational and upbeat. Help your readers to visualize the benefits
using action verbs. Just like any other writing which involves
promotion you need a good headline or subject that will motivate your
subscribers to want to learn more.
The one thing you need to
avoid is boring your readers. This is the one thing that will guarantee
lower sales. In effect get your message right and read it over to
ensure that it makes sense. You need to be able to connect the dots so
your readers can quickly discern what is in it for them.
What
your readers want are results. Make sure you show them how what you
have to offer will provide them with their desired result. Results are
what matter, people do not buy products or services they buy the
results those products or services will help them achieve.
