Emerald rings are known in jewelry history for being beautiful and catering to those that have more of an elegant taste in jewelry. Emeralds are a beautiful green color that can range in all hues of green and are the birth stone for the month of May. It is also the stone that symbolizes the Zodiac sign of Taurus. To some, a gift of jewelry that has the emerald may represent that whoever gave the gift will always take care of them financially and help keep them healthy and secure.

There are certain anniversary dates that one might be considered politically correct in giving an emerald ring to the one they love and these dates are the twentieth, thirty fifth and fifty fifth anniversary celebration. However, I feel that these days anyone that can make it past five years of marriage is well deserving of an emerald as a show of love and affection. The emerald has a history that relates back to many, many years. Emeralds were even noted in the bible itself. Spaniards also loved the beautiful green color of the emerald stone and used it in many of it's architectural buildings and designs that can still be seen in today's society.

History of Emerald Rings

Victorian times royalty would often have jewelry pieces made with intricate designs. Considering that only royalty could actually afford to have emeralds used in their jewelry, for any antique jewelry enthusiasts that are searching for Victorian pieces, remember that if you actually come upon an authentic piece of Victorian jewelry, there is a high possibility that it was once in the hands of royalty. Ireland even considers the green stone to be a stone that provides luck. These beautiful green stones are often used in Irish jewelry design and many will actually use them for an engagement ring and display a gorgeous emerald ring when proposing in hopes of a yes.

Pricing

Prices on emerald rings can range from the low to the high end of the spectrum according to the quality of the stone. Stones that are dull in color and dark is not worth much in value. Emeralds that have a bright, glowing color and nice clarity, with a fairly large size in carat weight are worth much more in value. Some of the important factors, when shopping for a quality emerald is to consider the following: color, size, clarity, cut and to make sure that it is not a synthetic (man made) stone.

Throughout history a gift of an emerald ring has been considered to be a gift of love because of how elegant and royal one feels when they have that beautiful, glowing stone on their finger. Emeralds have been known to be described as the stone to a successful love that gives faithfulness and proof of one's sensitivity. There is also a belief by some that emeralds offer a healing power that will aid in healing the lungs, heart, spine and muscular system and also in calming effects on the eyes. Regardless of the reasons or symbolizing of the emerald, an emerald is just a beautiful and amazing stone that anyone would love to have in their jewelry collection.
