Emerson has teamed up with Kershaw Knives and the design brothers Grant & Gavin Hawk.  This automatic knife is one of the better auto knives that has hit the market in a while.  The Auto Commander is built from top quality products and with the extreme precision you would expect from a knife that carries the Emerson name.  The Auto Commander sports an S30V blade that locks up with the CrossFire Auto Lock, designed by Grant & Gavin Hawk.  This innovative locking system means that no matter what you do with the knife, drop it, bang it, whatever, it will still not accidentally open.  It does this by requiring two moves to open it.  First, you slide the lock toward the spine and then you pull it down towards the user hand.  The knife also has the excellent blade shape that the Commander series all sport.  This is a limited run knife so make sure you get in and get yours quick.

Emerson Knives has created a scaled down version of their very popular CQC-8 manual knife. I don't very often fall in love with manual knives--they are good, especially if you aren't allowed to carry an automatic. But, since I can carry an auto knife, I just prefer to. The Mini-Horseman has all of what is so good about it's bigger brother but it fits in your pocket just perfect. I really like this knife. Although it isn't an automatic, it can open as you pull it out your pocket if you know how to do it. It has a reverse hook on the spine of the blade and if you drag the blade just right out of your pocket, it catches on your pocket and flips the blade out. This is really helpful--especially for the person working on the ranch. As Emerson Knives says on their website, "We all know how important a knife is when you’re working around a farm and livestock. In regard to horses, a strong sharp knife is not an option, it is essential. Every cowboy knows that his knife is his life jacket. When something goes wrong with livestock, it goes wrong fast. A knife is generally the only thing that will get you out of a wreck with your life." But don't get confused, this knife is just as good for you around town. One of the best manual knives I have ever used.

This automatic knife is the result of a joint effort by Gerber Legendary Blades and the legend Ernie Emerson. The Gerber-Emerson Alliance automatic knife is spectacular. It has a 3.5 inch black oxidized blade made of 154 CM steel. It keeps a great edge and is relatively easy to sharpen. The safety is where the genius lies. Set right below the actual action, the patent pending safety has a pin that locks the blade open or closed. The blade comes out fast and is a great, traditional shape. This is a spectacular knife from two really great companies.
