Power Emotions For Powerful Sales Copy Writing

The purpose of writing a good copy is to keep your reader interested enough to continue reading what you have to say.

You want that sale don't you?

Well there are some emotional hooks you can use to attract and keep your readers just where you want them.

Knowing for whom you are writing to is KEY.

Without zeroing in on your target market, your copy will be too broad, lose the reader and therefore lose the sale.

A next big step is to do good keyword research. Google adwords keyword is a great little tool to do just that.

Identifying the key related search phrases and blending them in will only make you more visible to the search engines.

In copy writing there are seven power emotions at your disposal to use to evoke in your reader a required response.

These seven copy writing tactics don't all have to be present but it's best to use as many as are appropriate to the topic you are writing about.

These power emotions are:

  1. The fear of loss: No one likes to lose. Whether it's losing at a game or losing something you really loved, the fear of loss is greater than the joy of knowing you own it. That's why using words like save, secure, safety, clinch, red flag, defend, are so effective.

  2. Greed: Even if you thought you were not greedy, we all harbor something that looks and feels like greed, some more than others. Our desire for what we want will move us to act. Words such as all, amass, money, millionaire, monopolize, results, proven, are a good start.

  3. Lust and pleasure are two words from the same coin. Words such as compel, attract, love, delicious, tempting, enticing, charming, discovery, health, tempt allow for lust to start brewing.

  4. Vanity: Industries are built on this emotion. Take the cosmetic industry. Billions of dollars are spent to look and feel more beautiful. Some power words to include are attractive, confident, magnetic, younger, stronger, beautiful, you.

  5. Pride: The pride of ownership or of a job well done makes anyone feel good. This word evokes that higher feeling of accomplishment we all love to have so use words such as accomplish, master, transform, best, biggest, greatest, money, proven, results, envy.

  6. Envy: Don't we all envy the person who can put their feet up and not worry about where the dime will come from? This emotion is very powerful and using words like desire, covet, begrudge, secret, ordinary, extraordinary, people just like you, will make the impact you want.

  7. Laziness: Everyone is lazy to some extent because it's easier. So providing value for little effort will entice your reader. Use words such as instant access, save time, in less than, break-neck speed, lightning, easy, guaranteed, road map, blueprint, avoid mistakes.

Copy Writing Headache

Copy Writing Giving You A Headache?

Are your writing skills needing to be polished? After all, you know that your success online depends on great copy writing skills or you have no sale.

Paying someone is often not an option and so you must get down, get dirty and start polishing this talent.

Then pay attention to these next 3 copy writing tips on how to use the right words for the right job

When you get a visitor to your page, you only have 8 seconds to keep them there. A pretty site and lots of bells and whistles may help but it won't keep them there.

To do that you need to start with this copy writing trick, The Attention Riveting Headline.

And for that to work here are 3 headline rules:

Rule 1: Report the problem:

Solving a problem is mostly why someone will land on your page.So make sure you are clear about what problem you are solving.

Rule 2: Give them the solution:

You were clear about the problem, now be clear about the solution. Create a powerful image your reader will be able to identify with and which will propel him/her to buy the solution from you rather than someone else.

Words like 'how to..” and “discover” start the imagination wheels turning

Rule 3: Its the benefits that sell.

It's fine to talk problem and solution but benefits are what sell, so :

  • show how in detail
  • be the teacher imparting valuable knowledge

It's all in the “what will it do for them”.

Here are some sample words to keep close by when copy writing:

  • Warning: (blank) ie: Warning: 98% of all network marketer fail in their business – will you be one of them?

  • Do you make these mistakes? Ie: Do you make these mistakes when creating your landing page?

  • How (blank) made me (blank) ie: How one simple online course made me $68,945 in my first year.

  • (blank) Ways to (blank): ie: 5 ways to pick the needles from the haystack

  • If you're (blank), you can (blank): ie: If you're a work at home parent, you can make an extra $175 a day.

Headlines are your greatest asset and will be your greatest challenge. Are you up for it?

Not everyone is born with great copy writing skills. Thankfully, it can be learned and passed on to others.

It's a matter of being open and willing to better oneself as we continue to grow our business by investing in ourself first.
