Saturn's Moon Enceladus and The Search for Life
56The New Life Moon
All scientist's and most people on this planet have been curious, if not obsessed with the search for life in outer space. Always the questions of are we alone?, is their life out there?, how did we begin? is bantered back and forth from elementary school and throughout our lives. Mars has usually taken the front page of this question. With the ice sheets and the patterns along the surface that look like rivers, we have looked first to Mars to solve the problem.
But now we have a new source of the discovery of life! During a fly-over by N.A.S.A.'s Cassini last July and August tremendous discoveries and new mysteries appeared. On Saturn swirls on the poles were viewed along with several other mysteries. I will do further research and a seperate article on this. What kept Cassini going long past the mission date is the discoveries of geysers on Saturn's seventh moon Enceladus. The imaging center Space Science Institute located in Boulder Colorado found several jet locations on the moon. Along with the geysers some organic material was recently discovered on this moon as well. This material could easily help scientists decode some of the building blocks of life. Without having to try to gain this information from dead material from Mars or an asteroid (which some theorize some may contain these blocks) we can try to obtain samples from a set place. The best part is that this material is alive! These jet resources may show scientists that there is water reserves buried beneath the surface of Enceladus. Here are some wonderful pictures from N.A.S.A. and the Space Science Institute. Enjoy!

This is something that we will all keep a sharp eye out on, with much more to write about!

Thanks and will do! Actually downloading some info from nasa and ciclops as I write this. Saturn has given us a few twists and turns as well. Did you know Saturn 7 is a movie based on this but they didn't have the info during the 80's. Maybe someone had foreseen something?...lol. Look for more info tomorrow as well as Hubble's new discovery!!!
I had no idea about the movie...maybe there truly is a conspiracy after all! I will look back tomorrow for more info.
I think the best place to search for E.T. life is first jupiters moon europa, followed by saturn's moon titan. NASA/ESA (european space agency) are planning on doing a mission to europa in 2020 (think), and titan in the future
Thanks for the comment P.K. Sadly Cassini might be the last. Our wonderful "Messiah" has canceled most projects due to budget over runs. We spent so much on the stupid, lazy, and illegal that we have no money left over for scientific research. Unless it's for better ways to tax us. We will have no more manned launches after 2010 and there will NOT be a new shuttle program. The current administration believes that we can learn everything we need to from right here in the comfort of our tiny rock. The money will be better spent on their pet projects. Enjoy the socialized health care and living in a welfare nation. Sorry for the soap box but have gotten some disturbing information from friends in the science communities that are funded. Thanks again for stopping by.

Very good stuff. A bio/physics class I took recently actually required I read about Saturn's Titan and the Earth's atmosphere before life and write about both. Very, very interesting stuff indeed. I cant wait to read your page on other mysteries found on Enceladus because I stopped research after I finished my paper and graduated. Keep going!
