Energy Efficient Air Conditioning: Upgrade Your Home

Dallas Air Conditioning equipment works from a central location to distribute conditioned air throughout a home or business. Unlike a small, window- or wall-mounted room air conditioner, designed to cool a small area, a central air conditioner borrows a central air handling unit such as a forced air natural gas furnace or electric heat pump and ductwork for whole-house delivery. The related heat pump is essentially a central air conditioner that can be reversed in winter to heat a house.can help with repairs and upgrades to your air conditioning system.

HVAC Dallas: Saving Money and the Environment

With the soaring cost of electricity and gas (natural and LP) it is no longer an option to be as energy efficient as possible. The good news is that there are a lot of inovative products, including heat pumps, airconditioners and furances, that can make this change easy anc cost effective, too.

Buying a more efficient Central Air Conditioner

Whether you need your furnace or ac unit repaired or replaced, call on our service experts for your residential or commercial repair and replacement needs. There are several factors a Dallas Texas home owner should consider when shopping for new equipment:

  1. Are you paying a reasonable price for your Dallas TX central air conditioner, furnace and heat pump?
  2. What capacity of central air conditioner should you buy for this hot and humid Dallas Texas environment?
  3. There are usually several levels of efficiency to choose from when buying an air conditioner or furnace or heat pump. How efficient you go depends on your the amount you can afford now.

Dallas home and business owners should know that there are essentially two costs when purchasing and installing a new central air conditioner: equipment costs and labor costs. Air Conditioner Dallas suggests you take a look at changing out the a/c unit in order cut your utility bills. That unit you have, especially if it is old, probably should be changed out for the new ENERGY STAR qualified equipment that could cut your utility bills by as much as 30 percent.. Of course, costs of upgrade can be heavy but you will save huge money on your energy bills over the years that would make up for these expenses.

The Obama government plans on playing a major part in protecting the environment by encouraging people to go for energy efficient cooling systems. The government may offer tax credits to homeowners on use of green energy saving windows, doors, roofing, water heater, furnace and boiler, and air conditioners in their houses.

You can thus expect a tax credit of up to $300 for upgrading your present air conditioning systems to make them energy efficient. The Obama stimulus plan may increase these incentives. Needless to say, the models that qualify for this kind of tax credit are more expensive than the rest. However, assuming that you save about $10 every month by way of energy bills after installing one of these air conditioning models, you would end up with savings worth at least $120 annually. Add to that $300 that you would earn as tax credit so that your total saving would be $420.

These numbers should be enough to prod you into upgrading your air conditioning system. Manufacturers produce air conditioners in a range of sizes; the trick is to match the capacity of the system to your home. Several factors, including your region’s climate, how well your house is insulated, how your home is sited, what rooms are used most frequently, and more all need to be considered before you can choose the system that is right for your needs. Discuss these issues with the professional from the Carrollton heating and air experts before making your purchase. To promote the use of energy efficient appliances, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy have developed the Energy Star program that helps consumers identify products that are energy efficient.

To get the most out of your heating and air system, make sure that you go for SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating) 13 or above.

Caution: Before doing any work on an air conditioning system, make sure the power to the system, both to the condenser and to the evaporator assembly, is turned off.

$3500 to $5000 USD. With other addons I have seen as high as $12,000 per unit. Most US homes now have two units. I had a new 3 ton compressor and evaporator unit installed for $2000.
