English Teachers wanted in China
70A chance for adventure
Have you ever wanted to travel? Experience life in another culture? Right now the schools in China are looking for native English speakers. The Chinese people are keen to learn English, and most schools have English lessons as a key part of their curriculum, but for the most part English is taught by Chinese teachers. And sometimes it is akin to Chinglish. (Not good English!).
In most places they require the teachers to have a degree - any degree - and a teaching qualification, and teaching experience. If you already have a degree there are many short courses on Teaching English (TESOL is one such course), and you can complete it while you are teaching in China.
The pay is quite good, the conditions vary, but in a good school you might only be working 20 hours a week, and they provide a good quality apartment.
It is a great opportunity for folk nearing their working life - as living and working here in China is an experience of a life time.
There is plenty of time and opportunity to discover the wonders of China. The people are great - it will feel a lot safer than home in the US, Australia, or the UK.
There are many opportunities and the next semester starts in September. You have plenty of time to do your TESOL, and get a contract.
Getting a Visa is the hardest part - but if you have a degree, and are healthy with no criminal past, it should not be difficult.
Come on over. I have been here in Zhejiang province since February and after a holiday in Australia for 8 weeks, I will be back.

Do you know the reason for the requirement of English teachers in China/Japan?
English is taught at all schools in China, and mostly by Chinese teachers who do a wonderful job. But NATIVE English speakers are desperately needed as only listening, talking with native English speakers can they get the converstational English working better. It has been said that even with 10 - 15 years learning English in China, without more native English speakers, the Chinese are still functionally illiterate. There are other reasons for this too.
