Enlarged Prostate Teatment

Welcome to the first of a series of Hubs I am writing on Enlarged Prostate Treatment. My name is Michael Holland and I have been writing and commenting on men’s health topics for many years now so I fully understand how tricky this subject is from a man’s point of view. And more importantly from a layman’s point of view as the majority of men, worldwide, have very little knowledge on their Prostate Gland.

I also angle my writing on the old saying that “Prevention is better than Cure”. You know, with a few simple lifestyle changes and maybe a supplement or two, because of diet deficiencies, a lot of what goes wrong with our bodies as we get older could be prevented. Or in the worst case scenario the degree of severity could be drastically reduced.

Please don’t get the wrong idea from the onset that I am some kind of health guru or healthy- living nut, because I am most definitely not. I understand that we are all different with our own outlook on life and the way we choose to live it. But what does bug me though is the complete disregard the majority of us have for our bodies. We only have the one body, and it has to last a long time- so why not a bit of planned maintenance from time to time.

So to get started, what is the Prostate Gland.? Where is it, and what does it look like? And what does it do?

The prostate gland sits just underneath the bladder and is donut-shaped, and in the adult male is about the size of walnut. Its main function is to produce part of the seminal fluid which combines with the sperm to form the ejaculate. Scientists now believe that the gland has many more functions in the body; but as yet, they have not yet been positively identified.

As men age our prostates become enlarged – this has been linked to a reduction in testosterone levels- and the problems this enlarged prostate treatment causes are the first time that many men actually focus on their prostate. This is called Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia or BHP. The first symptoms of BHP are frequent nocturnal trips to bathroom as completely emptying the bladder during urination becomes difficult.

And why does this happen? The urethra, the tube that carries the urine from the bladder, goes through the hole in the donut-shaped prostate on its way to the penis, gets squashed by the enlargement process thus making it very difficult to completely empty the bladder and very often results in an infection. That simply put is BHP and there are many natural enlarged prostate treatment methods out there. Supplements with various herbs and minerals and there is also MASSAGE. External prostate massage is a well-proven method tohelp maintain a healthy prostate gland.

So to conclude this first article I will offer you a link to a site which is a work in progress itself, but will contain more information for you on Enlarged Prostate Treatment.
