Creating Environmental Awareness
68Creating Environmental Awareness
We live an very materialistic world. We want all the latest technology, more powerful cleaning agents, faster and larger cars, not to mention easy access to countries on the other side of the world. One could argue that many of these things have enhanced our quality of life, making our lives easier and allowing us experiences beyond our wildest dreams. BUT have we stopped to consider the impact on our planet earth??
I am sure we would all agree that we want a cleaner and safer earth for our children and grandchildren and although we are not in a position to make the massive changes necessary to reverse the current situation overnight, we are in a position to play our part in changing the world one step at a time and collectively making changes that will help to SAVE OUR PLANET EARTH before it is too late
By Creating Environmental Awareness, we are taking the first step towards making these changes.
So where can we start??
Well there is so much information available on the internet, articles about Global Warming and Climate Change are prolific, and becoming informed is an important first step. But just being informed isn't going to make a difference if we don't do something positive with the information we have gleaned
Perhaps I could suggest a place to start. There is an excellent wesite called "Erase My Footprint" This website is dedicated to reducing our impact on Global Warming. There is a calculator for you to work out your own carbon footprint and an opportunity to plant trees to offset your footprint should you so wish.
So how are you going to do your bit to Create Environmental Awareness?
Another suggestion might be to subscribe to Google Alerts for news on environmental issues.
You must of course do whatever it is that you decide is right for you. But please do something.
A company called UBIEE has been set up to create environmental awareness. You can join as an Ambassador for the Environment for free and in doing so join a community of people who care about the future of our planet.

I totally agree that more people to be aware of the impact their actions have on the environment. In addition, it is the little things we can do that can have a signifcant impact on the health of our planet. Keep up the good work! and lets spread the word.
Nice hub! Everyone needs to be a litttle more concerned about our environment. Earth Day is April 22. Hope you can stop by and visit my hub(s).
i am very much interested in saving my planet earth and i am very much impressed with the above article.we have set up an eco club in our college.myself currently preparing a module for running an eco club under CEE ,Ahemdabad INDIA.
Technology can also sometimes be the answer. For example cars that get energy from breaking systems, or better batteries for electric motorcycles. I would argue for incentives for those that don't use resources. Products that put less demand on the environment should not be taxed. Let motorcycles not pay a fuel tax and SUV's pay double and elecric motos get a free lane!

Hi Janet,
You are so right to point out and to be concerned about the GLOBAL warming and Climat changes, the world already is having many catastrophys such as:rising sees, warming winds, unstable weather world wide, rising tides, floods, and from that Climat changing everything is suffering from it ,from Trees, birds, insects ,fish etc.
So yes I also want to do my part to try to change and help our MOTHER EARTH ,which is to rise the AWARENESS of the people on this planet.
So I did join the UBIEE company which provide a Power Pill to put into your fuel Tank ,on every Fill up of fuel and who reduces you CO2 emision by 78%,it gives you a good feeling to help nature.
