Lately I have been listening to and loving Born As Ghosts
You may recognize Eric Balfour. He's been acting since around 1984. In 6 Feet Under he played Gabriel Dimas, in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 he played Kemper. Apparently he's one of those multi-talents: acting, singing, producing, writing...
He's providing the powerful emotional vocals for this Los Angeles band.
I do not believe they are signed. I think you have to hit them on Myspace to check out the tracks.

Thanks for the "new band" lead! Unfortunately, I didn't love them and can see why they aren't signed yet. They're good, but not very original. Sorry...this is my "music exec." experience coming out. However, worse things have "made it" and chances are, given the notable front man, they will get a deal. Nothing that a great producer & co-writer can't fix!
I'm bummed that you didn't love them like I did. But it makes sense since you said "music exec" thing - I almost always hate pop, and top 40, and that crap.
Born as Ghosts is so different than anything else out there. They don't conform to that cookie cutter industry sound thing. Their music has such an LA influence - such a subtle Mexican flavor that you don't hear anyplace else right now, mixed with that soulful voice and emo-esque feel, but all of it on a streetwise gritty pulse.
I've seen them live. They groove. Believe me.
What haters. He sexy and he's a great actor. He is intriguing. And I hope one day he's mine. ;)

Great band, and maybe they won't make it because they aren't commercial. But it would really suck if the only people that make it all sound like the same shitass blink182 stuff
i love eric balfour. i love eric balfour's band. i preferred their old name. but regardless----they are amazing. bottom line. :)

I think he's HOT and talented. I just watched "Lie With Me" last night-I could see something deeper in the movie than most (it got horrid reviews), but most of "us" can't see past nudity and sex scenes enough to delve into a story line that IS truly there! (and 2 GORgeous leads doesn't hurt either) ;)
I hope to see Born As Ghosts on the east coast.....I'm going to hate to break my penny bank to fly out west!
I can not agree with those who think Eric is a bad actor. Well, here in Ukraine we haven't heard much of him. Though when i saw "lie with me" i thought that he was just the actor needed. The film is gripping ! and for 50% this is because of the actors. 50other per cents - because of the idea. Sexual scenes... well, even if you omit them but do not ofcourse forget about them (that's what i did), the film will remain good!

I saw Lie with Me some time ago... and despite the sex scenes, which yes, Eric Balfour is hot in, I actually liked the movie. I even cried in the end. I've seen him in other films and he's pretty good. As far as the music, I just started listening to the band and as others have previously mentioned, there's definitely something different about this band that sets them apart from the rest. I love the vibe. If you are from LA county, you can just close your eyes and listen and everything that is LA is engulfed by the rythms that you hear... eclectic, vibrant, full of culture and lots of flavor. I hope to see them play live and meet all of the members some day, not just Eric.
