Ericsson Company's Free WAP Laptop

I don't know the purpose of this chain email whether this is true or not but this has been circulating for quite some time. There are lots of these kinds of chain letters / emails but for me this is simple yet can attract attention of the recipients without having second thought to forward the same to the people in the contact list. Who knows, it's good if true and nothing to lose if not. I want to share this with you, to know your comments and thoughts. ;)

Hi Everyone,

The Ericsson Company is distributing free computer lap-tops in an attempt to match Nokia that has already done so. Ericsson hopes to increase its popularity this way. For this reason, they are giving away the new WAP Laptops. All you need to qualify is to send this mail to 8 people you know.

Within 2 weeks, you will receive Ericsson T18. But if you can send it to 20 people or more, you will receive Ericsson R320.

Make sure to send a copy to: anna.swelung@ericsson.com

Ericsson is Giving Away Free Laptops for Forwarded Emails-Fiction!

Summary of the eRumor:

An Internet giveaway message. It encourages you to forward the email to 8 people and within 2 weeks Ericsson will send you a free Ericsson T18. If you send it to 20 people you'll receive a free Ericsson R320. The message says Ericsson is giving away new WAP laptops.

The Truth:

There is no Ericsson laptop giveaway.

There is no Ericsson laptop giveaway.

Is a matter of fact there are no Ericsson T18 or R320 laptops.

Ericsson is a cell phone company and both are models of cell phones.

"WAP" refers to Wireless Application Protocol that does provide Internet content on a WAP-enabled device.

Additionally, there is no system being used on the Internet to trace the pathways of forwarded emails to compensate you or anyone else.

This email is a hoax.

How do I get my free lap-top if you do not even have my address. This would not be a good thing if this is not true, because you will have several people including myself that will foward all of this information over to Channell 11.

Thank you

It is important to understand that these e-mails could contain viruses, worms and the like or if nothing else a bunch of bogus spam. We often forward these messages to people professional e-mail addresses thus inundating them with SPAM. It is very easy to go to the so-called issuer's website to find out if the e-mail is true or go to www.snopes.com or www.urbanlegends.com they are up to date on internet hoaxes, new and old.

How can this be reported as spam abuse? This email has been circulating for a while now. It just reached my email Tuesday. And today, I sent it to a large pool of emails!

This should be reported and stopped. I am sending the email I received to Channel 19ActionNews reporters. They will handle it through exposure.
