Homemade skin care treatments can be messy, Organic products are notoriously expensive. You want to use natural skin care methods but the cost or effectiveness have stopped you. You are also not thrilled with the mess you have to make to make up a small amount of natural product.

The perfect solution is to make your skin care remedies in small batches without having to make a mess in your kitchen or bath using essential oils. These should be cosmetic grade essential oils, but you can also use them to create your own personal scents and scent your house.

Now it is said to 75% of traditional medicines haves their roots in herbal remedies. This is a good indication that herbal and natural treatments are effective. Essential oils are strong medicine, so use common sense when you use them if you are allergic to the plant the oil is extracted from you will be allergic to the essential oil. Essential oils used in skin treatment must be diluted.

You need a carrier base. Unscented hair conditioner (organic if you can) is a good carrier base. It will be absorbed by you skin like lotion without be greasy and washes of easily. Use generally 8 to 10 drops of oil to one ounce of the carrier base. If you mix oils then divide the number. You would then use 4 or 5 drops of each oil if you were using two essential oils. Below are oils that are common and treat common conditions.

Aloe Vera is a good source of alpha hydroxyl acid. It is a good general hydrating substance for all skin types. It is probably a good additive to blend with any of other essential oils

Bergamot is said to be effect in treating for eczema, herpes, acne, psoriasis, cold sores, and blisters.

Eucalyptus is commonly used in product to treat insect bites and rashes. Do not use Eucalyptus on weeping rashes.

Gotu Kola is said to be good to use of scars and psoriasis because it has a positive effect on collagen.

Green Tea is wonderful to reduce the puffiness around the eyes and can be used on oily skin as it has astringent properties.

Jasmine can be used to treat fragile older skin and stretch marks. It is good for dry irritated skin.

Lemon Balm can be used for infections, acne, boils, warts; increases shine and growth of hair and nails,

Sandalwood is commonly used to treat scarring, acne, dry, aged, and chapped skin,


Tea Tree is an important herb beneficial to many skin conditions. It is commonly used to treat, wounds, abrasions, rashes, insect bites, nail fungus, dermatitis, ringworm, , head lice, boils, cold sores, and acne.
