Internet and Affiliate Marketing Ethics

One generally doesn't associate ethics with sales. We have all been pressured by a smooth talking sales person, be it a car lot, electronics, furnature, etc. This high pressure sales tactic has given the entire industry of sales and marketing a negative reputation. However, as with any 'stereotype', there are many respectful and 'good' sales people. A good sales person will not sell you something just because they can. A good sales person will identify what it is you are looking for, find it and sell you that. In essense, a good sales person makes a genuine effort to align their prospective customer with the 'best fit' product/service for that person.

This is true online as well. Not all online sales associates are just trying to sell you something, anything. Rather, the successful marketers online have become experts at finding a specific market looking for a specific product/service, finding that product/service (or create it) and putting it in front of that audience. This is what makes them successful. A customer that is sold something that turns out to be just what they needed and was a good deal, will be more likely to trust that sales persons suggestions for future purchases. Also, just like the brick and mortor sale person, customers that feel they have been delivered value will recommend that sales person/company to others.

So the ethical marketer is in fact not a 'slimy sales person' but a good honest person that knows how to figure out what you need and find it for you. This person has taken a skill they have and have turned it into a career. It is the greedy or in some cases desprate people that are not sales people, but try anyway out of a 'disallusion' of either wealth or the answer to their problems. I think most people are good people, but not everyone makes a good sales person. But sales is an industry where a very good income can be made so it is not surprising that many atempt and fail or resort to unethical behavior.

Many of the newbies online, myself included, have been attracted to the internet for ways to earn money from home for a specific purpose. Maybe your a new mother and want to spend more time at home, maybe your a Dad that has to travel too much away from home, perhaps a student looking for additional money for school, etc. For many homes, we are just faced with an increased cost of living that is not being adequately met by the traditional 9-5 job. We might be looking to supliment our income or we might be looking to replace it entirely. The point being most of us searching online for a way to make money from home are here for one of many many different reasons, most being honest. While we may all be very different in our 'why' we have one thing that many of us newbies have in common;

we are not sales people.

Consequently, many of us are lead this way and that, buying this system and that, getting dollar signs in our eyes by some high energy sales promise just to be lead off in another direction. One can really get carried away by this 'energy' if they are not used to it and in short order they have spent a lot of money and 'wasted' a lot of time trying to make money online. This results in a lot of heart break, dissappointment and stress as they decide it can't be done and quite. Some people are lucky, they find the right (for them) product/service, they stick to it, stay focused, follow instruction and become successful.

A Newbie can make money online

I think the internet has created a facinating playing ground for people. Anything and everything is online. Unfortunately not everything is good. There are sooo many false promises and scams. But there is also a world of knowledge that I don't think has ever been so globally accessable by so many peoples and cultures. This is what I find facinating.......you can truly reach potentially millions of people. This is where the dissallusion of $$ comes in. Who wouldn't want millions of dollars, or a fancy house or car? Its pretty easy for a person to be swept away by this 'dream' of wealth. It is at this point that a newbie often forgets what their purpose is online as a prospective sales person. One starts to focus more on the potential money they can make, what they might do with it, help the family, buy a better house, stay home with the kids, etc.

It turns out the Real Secret to Making Money Online is to go back to your true roots. Putting others before ourselves is a common trait, as I have said, most people are good. The Secret to being successful in almost anything is;

Always be honest and respectful to youself and others,

Stay grounded and focused, your morals/values in 'real life' hold true online,

try to help people, find out what they want and give it to them,

Know what it is that you want, and go get it!

Its cool don't you think? To be successful you simply need to be true to yourself, to others, be helpful and clear in your desires. Its pretty cool, if you have read books lik 'The Secret', 'The Law of Atraction', 'Think and Grow Rich', 'The Power of Now', 'Conversations With God', ect, you will see that this is the same underlying message to Success in Anything.
