Euro Car Hire
65Euro Car Rental - Car Rental in a EU country
What are the rules
There is no common EU rules on car hire. If you make an agreement
to rent a car on holiday instead, it is that country's laws that apply
to the contract.
If you rent a car in another country through a Danish website, so
be aware of whether it is a true lease, you make or whether it is just
a booking service that you are using.
Included you the rental on a Danish website with an English
landlord, it is probably Danish law governing the agreement, although
the rent ratio is taking place in another country. Is it rather a
booking service that you order through, you are often the real rental
in the country you travel to where you need the car. It is then an
agreement between you and the local landlord, and the agreement will
fall under the law of that country. Booking Service guarantees you
simply rent the car for a certain price and you get a voucher / proof
that you can use when you make rental in the country and which
demonstrates that you have the right to rent a car for the price as
stated on voucher.
Read the agreement carefully through
Find rental carefully before you sign it. If there is something
that you do not understand, ask. It may be that the agreement requires
that the driver must have a certain age and must have been driving a
number of years to run the rented car.
Pay attention to how the rent is calculated.
There may be a higher
price for rent per day, free mileage, or a lower rent per day and a
charge per kilometer. Besides rental there may be charges for extra
equipment, for example a car baby chair and pull the hook on the car. There
are also additional costs, if you want to rent your car in one location
and deliver it back at another address or be able to run the car into
another country.
Check out what kind of fuel the car runs with and teach you what
it says in the country that you must run in. Make sure you get a phone
number for car rental so you can contact the landlord if something were
to happen with the car during the rental period.
Insurance
Find out what insurance included in rental. Liability insurance is
mandatory, but it is not clear that it covers as much as an insurance
in Denmark. You should be particularly aware of the following
assurances:
Third Party Liability Insurance; a basic insurance. It is a
liability insurance that covers, if you cause injury to persons and
vehicles.
Collision / damage waiver, similar to a so-called insurance to replace damage to the rented car and if it is stolen.
Personal Skadeforsikring; you may need an insurance that covers
injury, because it is not certain that the ulykkesforsikrng you have at
home in Denmark, including abroad.
Reducing excess: although the risk may be high, and it may be a
good idea to take out insurance, which reduces or may even exclude the
risk.
Check your car at pickup and delivery
Check the car's odometer when you download it and make sure that a
few kilometers figure written into the contract. Check the car's
condition and make sure any damage is noted in the rental, otherwise
you might be held liable for damages when you return the car.
The same applies if you return the car. To avoid collected payment
for damages, you should ensure that staff check the car when you return
it and get a copy of the control. It should be apparent that there is
no new damage to kilometer number is ok, and that the tank is filled.
Landlord requires a deposit
Most car rental companies require you to pay by payment or credit
card and that they reserve an amount on the card. If your car is
damaged when you return it, or if there are other costs during the
rental period will udlejningsfirmaet cover the costs of taking your
deposit.
Postpay - Your approval is required for larger amounts
Some consumers find that after the return will be increased more
money via credit card than originally agreed. The following payments,
you may find, for example payment to rent the car to be thinking if
you've forgotten to refuel it before you delivered the extra days
rental if you return the car late or fines for traffic offenses for
which you did you guilty ii lease. Post can also be a larger amount to
cover damage to your car, or if the car was stolen.
Part of the larger card companies (Visa, MasterCard and Euro Card)
has an agreement on the following car rental companies have to make
payments and what payments they must have your approval to make.
Under the agreement, the car hire allowed to withdraw the post
from your card if it is small amount to cover the cost of refueling the
car, extra rental days or fines if you have approved the contract. Car
rental must not withdraw larger amounts of damage to the car or because
it was stolen, unless you after the damage occurs has approved that the
amount deducted from your card.
If you come off to be withdrawn large sums from your card, you
must complain to the card issuer, which must return the amount. If car
rental companies want payment for an injury that you do not believe you
are responsible for, the company could prove to the bank that you are
responsible for the damage and injury, before you can become
erstaningsansvarlig and the amount can be deducted from your account .
How you complain?
If you want to complain about a post that you think is a mistake,
you must write to both car rental and your card issuer. If your
complaint is about something else, such that the car does not
correspond to what you were promised and that is their contract, you
must first send a written complaint to the lessor. If I can not agree,
and it is a rental agreement that you signed with a company in another
EU country, you can contact Consumer Europe. We can through our network
to find out what remedies exist in the country where you rented the
car.
If you have signed a lease with a Danish company, you should
complain to the company. There is a Complaints Board in Denmark, which
investigates complaints about car rentals. This means that if you
disagree with car rental, you may refer your case to court.
