Why blog for your business?

I started a blog for my travel business in October 2006 after receiving an email from a business studies student writing a disseration about travel business blogs. Prior to that I'd thought that blogs were just online diaries for geeks. However I did some reading and everything said that blogging for your business was a great way to increase your Google Pagerank meaning that you'll get more visitors to your site, so more potential customers.

My aim was to make the blog informative, interesting and entertaining for readers and and to promote my travel business. Readers have to get something from reading your blog. If it's just a blatant sales pitch they won't read your blog. If your blog is a great read but doesn't boost your business then why bother having a blog? You have to strike a balance between offering the reader something of value or benefit to them and increased sales and profit for your business.

I's hard work being a blogger, trying to keep up a good flow of quality content. It's a great way to market a small business with little financial outlay, just a lot of time and effort.

Please let me know what you think of my blog and how I can make it better for you.
