RV Buyer Beware!

I just got off the phone with a RVer who returned to a RV dealer to trade in a RV he got a screaming deal on two years ago. He wanted to trade for a newer model of a similar design he owned but a bit bigger with more sleeping area. He had a lot of confidence in the dealer's ethics and business practices because of the previous deal he made. The dealer is a new breed of RV Internet dealer who has impressed me many times with their low pricing. I recommended them at least once a week to RV buyers.

When the dealer quoted a price, my new RVer friend almost fell off his chair! He asked the dealer to check for mistakes that this deal was horrible and vastly inferior to the last one. The dealer began 'dealer speak' to justify the now preditory pricing. Needless to say, they got nowhere except to erode a good ongoing relationship.

Smelling a rat, he called me for a RV deal analysis and in about an hour the truth became known. The dealer was asking my friend to pay over four times the profit of two years ago! Is this any way to treat a loyal customer?

I can not believe this is happening so I send a price request to the dealer for the same trailer. The email comes back promptly and quess what. I can buy the trailer $2,750.00 less than my friend and I am a stranger halfway across the country.

This just goes to prove something I have known for a long time. Even good dealers can be bad. It is truely RV buyer beware. If these guys smell a profit, they go for it. Just because you have delt with them before and are a satified customer doesn't mean they will treat you fairly this time around. In fact I bet they look for this kind of return buyer because their guard is down and there is profit to be made.

RV Buyer Beware! RV sellers are not your friend. Get your deal evaluated by an experienced RV Buyer Consultant every time, every deal. It is up to you to protect your assets and your money is all many RV dealers really care about.

Then there is the other side of the coin. Got a phone call early this morning from a satisfied client from yesterday. He managed to buy a $375,000.00 motorhome for a $7,500.00 profit! Amazing!

Even though it is a buyer's market, be careful, these guys are not your friends.
