Everdry Basement Waterproofing

Leaky Basement Nightmare!

You may think that a leaky basement is your worst nightmare...

Every time you venture downstairs there's a musty smell, and it just feels damp and you can't wait to get back upstairs and close the door.
Unfortunately, you can't just ignore it, because eventually mold will start to grow and can cause health problems with your family and if you have stuff stored down there they will be ruined
On top of all that fun stuff over time water finds the path of least resistance and coupled with the pressure from the outside. You will need to get those drips or seepage sealed up and dried out fast before it becomes a major problem.
Is it the end of the world? not really but for people like me and you who haven't a clue where to start there are several ways of taking care of your basement to get it dry and keep it dry
The first thing to have done is to have your basement inspected and find out exactly how the water is entering the basement. This is something you can do on your own but generally any basement waterproofing company will do a thorough inspection and give you a written assessment and they will suggest several solutions to get rid the water.

Drainage Problems

The first thing they will inspect is the exterior of the basement to determine how the water is currently being diverted away from your foundation.

Some of the drainage problems can be easily fixed, like the gutters clogged with leaves or they aren't doing what they should, check closely at the downspouts and make sure they are directing the water flow away from your house.
If after you have checked out your gutters and found that aren't the source of your problem, it's probably a good time to talk with a basement waterproofing specialist.

They know what they are doing and can quickly identify water patterns and can suggest very effective methods of diverting the water from the exterior of your home.

Basement Leaks

Water also can find its into your basement through cracks and crevices in your foundation. usually its a visible crack or fracture, or a trickle of water or damp spot on the floor or walls.

If you find a crack, there are several different types of sealing compounds that will fill these in, there's even vinyl wall sheets, or carbon fiber membranes. Remember though this not as easy as it looks and unless you know what you are doing its probably better to get a basement waterproofing company in to do it right.

Flooding

Mother nature can be very unpredictable at times and no matter how good of a basement waterproofing job you have done, if there is a way, water generally will find its way in and ruin your day.

Depending on where you live you may be in a flood-prone area or you just want to be better prepared in case of disaster.

Being proactive and taking steps to be ready to handle most types of flooding, short of a tsunami a sump pump with a battery backup coupled with interior and exterior waterproofing is your best approach and making sure your basement stays high and dry for years to come

Bottom line here is water problems will never go away on their own and will only snowball and get worse.

So do yourself and your family's health a favor and head them off at the pass and take care of your damp basement problem now---you wont regret your decision.
