Everest Base Camp trek takes you inside the mountain and culture of Everest Region on foot. The magical name of Everest (8848m) is called "Sagarmatha" in Nepali & "CHOMOLUNGMA" in Tibetan language. Mount Everest or Solukhumbu region is one of the most famous trekking dstinations in Nepal which is tinged romance of being so close to the highest mountain in the world. The route is located in the largest reserve of wildlife in the world, the SagarmathaNational Park. It covers an area of 1,148 sq km Area. From Lukla (airstrip to Everest), you trek to the capital Sherpa Namche Bazaar. A day is spent here for acclimatization and simply soaking up the atmosphere of this bustling village before heading through Tengboche (visit the great monastery), Dingboche Pheriche, Lobuche village and finally to your highest camp Gorakshep ( 5200 M). This is the starting point of the climb to Kalapatthar (5545M) for a spectacular view of Mt.Everest, and walk in the base camp of Everest. The area around Khumbu is commonly known as Everest region. It is also known as the home of Sherpa people and the mysterious yeti. This trek includes the base camp of Mount Everest, but also Namche Bazar, Lukas, Tengboche and Solukhumbu all who are in turn threatens the Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world and also Amadablam Mount.
Permits and Entrance Fees
Hikers must obtain permits for each trek and may have to pay the entrance fee to enter national parks and sanctuaries. For foreigners, to visit across the mountains and restricted areas should get a special permit issued by the Department of Immigration.
