Tip 1 – Use a Good Antiperspirant

Try out different brands of antiperspirants until you find one that works for you. You want to always check the labels however, to make sure you have an antiperspirant and not just a deodorant. Deodorants just mask the smell of sweat, but an antiperspirant can also help reduce the amount you sweat. If you suffer from excessive sweating, find a good antiperspirant that works.

Remember everyone is slightly different. You may need to trial several different types and brands to get one you are happy with. Keep trying and don't give up!

Tip 2 - Shower regularly with anti-bacterial soap

Shower morning and night and even in the middle of the day if you need to. Using a good anti-bacterial soap will help you to reduce bacteria left on your skin. Remember sweat actually contains bacteria that the body is trying to get out of its system, so it can emit it through the skin via your sweat.

If you can wash your skin regularly, with anti-bacterial soap, you may reduce the risk of bacteria re-entering your system and starting the excessive sweating cycle again.

Tip 3 - Use Dress Shields

Dress shields are absorbent pieces of material that can be attached via adhesive tape to the inside of your clothes. They absorb both moisture and odour from sweat and can be a real life saver to sufferers of excessive sweating. These can be washable or disposable, giving you a number of hygienic options in managing excessive sweat, especially from under the arms.

You can change your dress shields when you need to, meaning you are always fresh for whatever you are doing, even that late in the day business meeting.

Tip 4 - Use Hygienic Moisture Wipes

There are a number of types of body moisture wipes that are available these days. They can be easily carried in a handbag or small bag and can be used easily to wipe off excess sweat, help you to cool off and freshen up at any time of the day. Try for an anti-bacterial moisture wipe as that will help with the odour and bacteria from sweat too.

Whenever you visit a bathroom or toilet, open your shirt or blouse and use an hygienic moisture wipe or two to help you freshen up.

Tip 5 - Pack Spare Clothes

Excessive sweating sufferers will all know how embarrassing your clothes can be after a few hours. Consider packing a spare business shirt or blouse, spare socks or tights and changing when you need to, especially if you know you will have an important meeting in the afternoon.

Fresh clothes can help you to stay hygienic and can also give your confidence a boost when you need it most.

Tip 6 - Choose the Right Clothes

Look for clothes made from natural fibres such as cotton, as these breathe better. Firstly, this is important because they are far less likely to stick to your skin when you sweat into them than man-made fibres such as nylon. Secondly, because the natural fibres "breathe", they are less likely to make you feel hot and you will naturally sweat less in them.

Consider cotton clothes rather than ‘sticky' man-made nylons. These types of clothes will help reduce the amount you sweat too.

Tip 7 - Exercise

Yes I do mean exercise! This can have many benefits. Firstly, you can have a "legitimate" reason to sweat so if your company offers a gym use it in your lunch break, giving you the perfect excuse to have a shower during the day. Also, exercise will produce sweat naturally, but may reduce the amount you sweat at other times, as your body is trying to expel some bacteria and toxins through your sweat.

Tip 8 - Eat Healthily

Consider what you eat. Some options will always make you sweat more such as chillies for example. Keep a food diary for a week, and make note of when you sweat more. If you can see a correlation between something you ate and a time you were more sweaty, try eliminating that food from your diet and see if this reduces the amount you sweat.

Excessive sweating does not have to hold you back. If you use these hygiene and health tips every day, you will find that your problem will be reduced.

You will certainly feel much more confident to live your life the way you want to, without worrying about how much you are sweating. Keeping your body as hygienic as possible will reduce the odour and other problems caused by excessive sweating.
