I have something interesting for you.

Ghost or spirit are actually called genie in Islamic literature.

Their ultimate agenda to deviate mankind and drag us to hell.

The following verse from Surah al-Hijr verse 29 - 39.

29. "So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him."

30. So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together.

31. Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators.

32. (Allah) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?"

33. [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud."

34. (Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsir At-Tabari]

35. "And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)."

36. [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected."

37. Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved,

38. "Till the Day of the time appointed."

39. [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all.

So my first contact.

I just lost my scholarship and was bit worried.

I was sleeping alone in my dorm and suddenly got a weird feeling that something was entering my body from the leg and going direct to my brain.

Out of sudden, then there was something directly trying to control my body and soul.

So I started to read the following verse from the Quran frantically.

In the name of Allah the Most Merciful, and Compassionate Allah

There is no god but He, The Living, the Everlasting, Slumber seizes Him not, neither sleep, To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. Who is there that can intercede with His, except by His leave? He knows what lies before them and what is after them, And they comprehend not anything of His Knowledge save as He wills. His throne comprises the heavens and the earth, The preserving of them fatigues Him not, And He is the All-High, All-Glorious.

Out of sudden, I heard a ghost voice in harsh tone saying "Hey, don't resist me"

This devil in it's harsh voice still trying to possess me keep on telling me stop resisting.

I kept on reading the verse, but it didn't work till I start repeating the last statement from the verse.

His throne comprises the heavens and the earth, The preserving of them fatigues Him not, And He is the All-High, All-Glorious.

Then, only I manage to escape the ghost / devils attack.

Thank God, for revealing that verse that can protect me from the lousy ghost.

At that time I was not realy bothered with ghost / spirits whatever they are called, since I am more interested in my degree and getting a good job.

Suddenly, I'm exposed this kind of supernatural phenomenon so I got bit interested to know better about ghost / genie/ spirit.

What I can note down below is some of the excerpt from Quran and Hadith which explains what is genie / ghost / spirits are.

There lot of Islamic scholars out there that can explain to you more about Satan.

What they are made of ?

55:14 He created man from clay (of black, fetid/transmuted mud) (15:26), which makes a crackling sound if trodden upon when it is dry like the baked pottery (16:4, 19:67, 23:12, 32:7, 36:77, 76:1-2, 86:5-7, 96:2)

55:15 And He created Jinns from an intricate mixture of (intensely hot) fire

How does they communicate to man ?

Normally they contact us by whispering to us through our heart. You think it's your inner voice but actually its not. So be careful with your inner voice. Please refer to the surah an-nas below.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of An-Nas.

The King of An-Nas.

The God of An-Nas.

From the evil of the whisperer who withdraws.

Who whispers in the breasts of An-Nas.

Of Jinn and An-Nas.

Another type of Inspiration / suggestion that satan will inspire to us as stated below

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 54, Number 496:

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostle said, "Satan comes to one of you and says, 'Who created so-and-so? 'till he says, 'Who has created your Lord?' So, when he inspires such a question, one should seek refuge with Allah and give up such thoughts."

We muslim read the following verse before we approach our wife.

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 54, Number 493:

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas:

The Prophet said, "If anyone of you, when having sexual relation with his wife, say: 'In the name of Allah. O Allah! Protect us from Satan and prevent Satan from approaching our offspring you are going to give us,' and if he begets a child (as a result of that relation) Satan will not harm it."

Satan can make you forget things

Volume 4, Book 54, Number 498:

Narrated Ubai bin Kab:

That he heard Allah's Apostle saying, "(The prophet) Moses said to his attendant, "Bring us our early meal' (18.62). The latter said, 'Did you remember when we betook ourselves to the rock? I indeed forgot the fish and none but Satan made me forget to remember it." (18.63) Moses did not feel tired till he had crossed the place which Allah ordered him to go to."

The following statement was taken from Surah Yasin verse 60 - 62.  Satan manages drag most mankind to hell.

60. Did I not ordain for you, O Children of Adam, that you should not worship Shaitan (Satan). Verily, he is a plain enemy to you.

61. And that you should worship Me [Alone Islamic Monotheism, and set up not rivals, associate-gods with Me]. That is a Straight Path.

62. And indeed he (Satan) did lead astray a great multitude of you. Did you not, then, understand?

There is a lot of information about in the Quran and Hadith which you could refer to if you interested to know more.
