One of the best ways to learn anything is with a more hands on experience. There are so many things out there that you can learn by simply watching others micromanage, execute tasks, or even dictate.

One of the things that I always like to do is watch one of my favorite villains beat down on his opposing faction. Dr.Evil is someone who will intimidate all yet every single time will fall at the end.

Let's look at some of the things he has done...

Taking on the worlds most deadly assassins...

One of the things that Dr. Evil was renowned for was his ability to convince people to do his dirty work for him. What he would do was form some of the most elite, and ruthless villains to group with him and force them to work for him.

There was a research process involved as Dr. Evil would carefully choose his group so that he made sure that the job was done right.

Some people would choose their villains based on trying to save money; however the job would only get half done. Dr. Evil never cut corners, he went out and recruited the people he wanted and made sure that the task at hand was completed.

Taking this into consideration this is what you have to look at in your situation. The first thing you need to do is ask yourself questions about the people surrounding you. Do you have a subpar staff? Is everyone in the work place pulling their weight or do you have people who are slacking?

One of the best things to do is to try and surround you with people who have the same objectives and goals. Try to hang around the people who will best represent your qualities.

If these things do not ring a bell, or are not present in your workplace then you need to make sure that you hire yourself a team of deadly assassins to make sure the job gets done the right way.

There many people out there that is there to hold you down. A term that is commonly used nowadays is "haters". These people are out there to try and move you backwards but you can't let them.

Preparing to Dominate

If you are trying to build a business, a successful business, there are things that you need to do to accomplish it. One of the things that are very important to do is to make sure that you plan ahead. Most successful businesses will look ahead to tomorrow or even a year from now to try and stay ahead of the curve.

I just got off the phone with my mentor and he said....

"Something that everyone needs to ask themselves is, if there was one thing in life that you would absolutely love doing what would it be"?

When I took a step and actually realized what he was saying, it occurred to me that I never had looked at things in that manner. I was so caught up in the moment that I never stopped and looked at the future and where I wanted to go.

By taking the time to step back and look at it, it made me start asking questions of my own. Questions such as what do I really want?

Do I really want to be training people when I am able to retire?

Should I be waking up at 6am every morning doing something that I am not happy with?

His comments made me realize that it was time for me to make a change and to start thinking big. By doing this, it will allow me to seek out everything that I want to do in my life and be successful doing it.

Something that is very valuable to your life is to have people around you that are successful and can set you on the right track when you go off. Think about if you are setting yourself up for success or you are just thinking about the present.

Arming yourself for the future...

Going back to the villain analogy of it all, most villains you see arm themselves with guns, knifes, and explosives. Dr. Evil took things to another level by having sharks with laser beams, setting himself apart from the rest.

By doing this he set a trend of villains that would try but wouldn't be able to match his powers. He did it will style and flare making him one of the most powerful villains out there.

The point of this is not to be afraid to think outside of the box. There is no need to run out and get a gun license thinking you are a villain.

Another thing that you have to look at is whether or not you have purchased a service because there was a competitor out there that was already providing it.

In fact, we as humans tend to look for....

Something that is unique, something that has never been done that will separate one company from the next.

Is there something that you are doing or should be doing to set yourself apart?

When asking yourself these questions if you do not have an answer for them you need to stop what you are doing and make a list of things that you can do to get started.

The Diet Coke of Evil....

Make sure you follow with me on this because we are going back to the laser beam approach.

When starting a business chances are there is someone already doing it? One of the things you will have to do is learn to work smarter not harder in order to get ahead of the competition.

A lot of companies can't market the right way because they go to pointless lead groups or networking events. You need also to be building strategic alliances with non-competing companies as well.

Marketing your company will come at a heavy price to you if you do it the wrong way. Most companies spend thousands of dollars on newspaper ads, magazine ads, and commercials. However, there are free ways to promote such as craigslist which will get your name out there to thousands of people a day.

Something that you can't do is to stay threatened by your competitors. Some questions need to be asked like are you out thinking your competition?

Cryogenically Freeze Yourself...

Planning ahead means that you have to ask yourself what would happen to your business if you were sick, or out of town would it fold?

Can your business stand on its own to feet if for some reason you are incapacitated?

A good way to set yourself up with this is to make sure that some of your load is taken off your shoulders by outsourcing some of your tasks to others.

There are some people that you should try and model you after such as Steve Hochman, Chris McCombs, and Bedros who focus their efforts on making 6 figure motion pictures.

What they do is focus on the things that they can do instead of all the little stuff.

Many things that you can do to get ahead of the curve are to create operating manuals, which will create a how-to outline for various tasks, and surround yourself with a good team.
