How does niche directories arises?

We all know that directory submission is an important method in building back links for websites. These links building technique has been in seo business for years and still brings fruitful results.

But nowadays Google is giving more importance to quality of links than quantity of links. Quality of links in terms of google means link related with your site theme. Suppose you have a hotel site, then getting a link from a travel related site will be considered a quality link, while link from web design related site won’t.This quality link theory has given birth to niche directory in web directories.

A niche directory is actually a general directory, but with a difference that it contains all the links related to one particular theme or category.

Let us take an example of travel niche directory; a travel directory will contain all the links related to travel sites such as hotel reservation, travel packages, tour guides like that. Similarly, a web design related directory will contain all links related with web design such as web templates, web design, domain registration and many more.

As mentioned above, getting a link from theme related site is considered a quality link hence a theme related directory submission is an ideal way to get quality one way links.

But, the problem is that there are very few niche directories available. You will see thousands of general directories, but not more than 50 directories related to a particular theme. On top of that, most of them are paid or reciprocal and there are very few directories which are free. So, getting a link through niche directory is a tough job, may be you have to go for paid linking for getting a link from niche directories.

But still, it is beneficial to get link from niche directories.
