Evony

Ok, so I am a long term gamer. More recently (past few years) I have turned purely to online gaming. Starting with the likes of Steam (Counter Strike / Half Life), actually if you go way back before the internet I actually played F1 GP from Microprose over a modem with friends!

But anyway, I have been totally addicted to this new free browser based game Evony. (Its similar to World of Warcraft in some ways - but simplier, costs nothing and is amazingly good fun)

Because it's free, simple and looks good - anyone can get involved. So you get a wide range of players from around the world.

If you want to speed things up, you can optionally buy game coins in Evony to make the experience better, but really, I enjoy things free and think the basic version is just fine. (Assuming most younger players will feel the same)

Build a city, grow an empire and join an Evony Alliance. Thats the basic first few steps.

I am still learning the trade, but it doesn't take too long. Alliance members will help you get started and are always ready to assist if your town is being attacked.

Most of the gamers in Evony are MMORPG and RTS (Real Time Strategy) guys and are always helpful which is great.

One thing I am keen on seeing in Evony, is a regularly updated list of player rankings (standings) and also the rankings of Evony Alliances.

These kinds of stats are available in Evony and no doubt everyone is striving to get themselves into the Top 10.

But a web based script and rankings listing for Evony would be very cool. I am sure one of the leading MMORPG or gaming sites might try and set something like this up as it would be well followed I am sure.

Even for new users, knowing the best or largest Evony Alliance is a handy tip and can guide them on who best to help them out as a newb in the growing free online browser game.

Its interesting to see the growing viral buzz around Evony the free online browser game, certainly the volume of talk from twitter, facebook and other social media sites - you can see how popular this game has become.

I have noticed some online content relating to 'evony coin hacks' which is quite concerning, already the free online game evony is being targeted by hackers looking to offer something for nothing.
