Shaun Alexander signed a 1-year deal with the Washington Redskins yesterday, reuniting him with Coaches Jim Zorn and Stump Mitchell. With the injury to Ladell Betts, Alexander will be serving as Pro-bowl running back Clinton Portis' back-up. Here is what Shaun had to say about it:

"I'm in great shape. I'm so excited to play. I'm finally 100 percent healthy," Alexander told The Associated Press last month. "I really don't care what part of the game I'm in, whether it's a complementary role or whatever."

Shaun had visited the Saints, Lions and Bengals this off season after being cut by the Seahawks.

Alexander spent 8 years here in Seattle, running for 9,428 yards. He holds 13 Seattle Seahawk rushing records:

  1. Attempts/Career - 2,176
  2. Attempts/Season - 370
  3. Yards / Career - 9,429
  4. Yards / Season - 1,880
  5. Yards / Game - 266
  6. 100yd Games / Career - 33
  7. 100yd Games / Season - 11
  8. Consecutive 100 yd games - 4
  9. Longest run - 88 yds
  10. Yds per carry / Season - 5.08
  11. TD's / Career - 100
  12. TD's / Season - 27
  13. Consecutive games w/ a TD - 9

In addition to all of that he also had 5 consecutive 1000 yard rushing seasons. That type of consistansy is almost unheard of in today's NFL. He was a star in Seattle until the 2006 season when he quickly fell to the earth. I wonder if he is going to be booed or cheered when the Redskins visit the Hawks on November, 23rd.
