Who is Payiing the Examiner.com Managers?

I have submitted six articles to Examiner.com and got some useful information from my manager, Carol. I write about dating advice but would like to write about other subjects without applying again as the application process is like applying for a job. You have to fax or mail a W-9 Tax form and you have to submit writing samples. Submitting the samples was not a problem because I have written over 470 articles at Hubpages.  The only difficult part is getting the W-9 Tax form to Examiner.com and getting a real photo to them within three days of application.

The revenue has been slow because I have not written a lot as I have to learn how to hyperlink and get used to writing in the third person. Examiner.com seems like a real job because they use the AP style of writing the topic. You have to capitalize only the first letter of the topic and the rest of the topic is in small letters. Also your work is reviewed by a manager in your selection of  examiner category. The selection of examiner category seems to limit the scope of your writing.I prefer Hubpages where the revenue seems to climb faster because the topics that you write about is not limited and you do not have a manager or a coach.

Having a manager or a coach is fine as the information provided  some of which I will surely use on hubpages. However, I prefer to use the casual references such as "you" instead of the third person such as "he," "she," "it" or "they." Examiner.com makes you learn new ways of writing which is a good thing. The website has a structured way of submitted material but the site itself is a bit difficult to navigate.   You always have to start from the pub tool once you sign in instead of signing in and going directly to your page.

However, you do stop to wonder who is paying the managers and if their pay is taking away from your revenue. It seems like their job is to monetize the articles and ensure that they meet AP standards. You could aspire to be a manager but the door will probably be difficult to find.

I have to admit, I enjoyed hearing from my manager, but with the revenue, you wonder why would someone else have to review your work without an increase in pay. If you like working for yourself and being independent, then it is better to stay with Hubpages. My six articles earned 3 cents and a lot of advice from the manager about the AP style of writing.

I decided to go for the $50.00 referral form but the letter was awfully long and I modified it a bit. The better route if you are looking for quick money is to refer people to Examiner.com. They pay $50.00 for each referral and presently have about 8,000 examiners. I just found out from the forum that examiner.com has a link to LinkedIn social networking site. The link to Linkedin makes it seem more like a job as LinkedIn is known as a job networking site. Also getting that real digital picture that is required can be a problem is you have been using avitars and may want to remain as such. Examiner.com only accept real photos of examiners that you have to email as an attachment and they link it to your profile. Hubpages uses avitars and you can change your avitar or use your real picture, the choic is yours at Hubpages.

After six months at Hubpages I have earned two payouts and feel more at ease using the casual references instead of the third person. I joined Examiner.com because an Examiner visited the forum and said that her goal was to make $3,000 a year. With such high expectations coming from Examiner, I was anxious to join and check out how examiner.com was monetizing.

I did not mind all of the work that needed to be done to become a part of the teamnbecause I was thinking about the added iincome. To have your work reviewed before it is released to Google Adsense is a little undaunting. I write on relationships and thought that the Examiner would be a great place to dispense relationship advice. After being welcomed to the team of Examiner.com, now I am having second thoughts.

The good thing about Examiner.com is that they will accept work to 400 words. As a Hubpage writer 400 words is not conducive to high earnings so a longer article of up to 1500 words should be submitted. If you do not mind having your work go through a "boss" and learning the language of Google which is hyperlink then Examiner.com is for you.If you like being your own boss, then Hubpages is for you. After all someone has to pay the managers and if your articles are not paying them, then who is?

I think you will enjoy the freedom that Hubs allows you in your writing topics, and the readers be your critics on the quality of your work.

Regards

rb11, thank you for your comment. I totally agree with you that hubpages have ample critics of your writing and quality of work. A manager is not needed.

A nice hub overall Linda. Its really really nice that you have written 493 hubs just in 7 months. Do you think the earnings on hub pages are really worth spending time here?

BTW I believe you will like to correct the word "payiing" in the title of your capsule.

And wanted to know if it is avatar and not avitar as you have written avitar in your hub.

examiner.com has created quite a stir in the online writing community. I've been with them for almost two months, I have no complaints.

w scott bowlin, thank you for your comment. The process of getting published has to go through an editing channel where your team leader offers suggestion. The internet is a 24/7 process and the delay in publishing reduces the earnings. I am glad that the writing site works for you, I like to have creative rights to my work and like to have writings published right away without a middle man.
