Exercise Options for Stay-at-Home Moms
61Just because you're home with the kids all day, doesn't mean you need to pass on the opportunity to work out! If you need to remotivate yourself into a challenging but effective workout routine, here are some exercise options to get you back into shape and enjoying the freedom and flexibility of being at home:
- Yoga or pilates. Start a new early morning routine that involves stretches, toning, and balancing. It will help you become centered and focused before your busy day begins, along with the benefits of a killer workout to get you buff in no time
- Resistance bands and jump roping: If you need a quick routine for some heart-pumping cardiovascular exercise, try alternating jump roping and resistance band stretches for 30 minutes. As long as you're increasing your heart rate for at least 15 minutes, you'll be rearing to go and full of fresh energy!
- Fitness videos. Times have changed since the days of Jane Fonda specials, and you can find a number of fun and challenging routines to pop into the DVD player. Schedule just 45 minutes to an hour, and enjoy a Tae-Bo session, step training, or even power walking right from the comfort of home
- Take a jog around the block. Got 20 minutes to spare? Strap on those running shoes and take a brief break around the neighborhood. Even a quick power walk will help you feel refreshed and refocused.
- Take a bike ride. All you need is a bike and a helmet, and biking is a great lower body workout that can get you in shape in no time.
- Go Swimming. If you have access to a local pool, take the kids along with you for a total body workout.
You don't have to lose out on the benefits of looking and feeling great just because you're not heading to the gym each day. Incorporate daily exercise into your schedule, and you'll easily boost your energy naturally!
