Experiment in your writing
53100 Hubs in 30 days
I'm one of those who accepted the challenge to write 100 Hubs in 30 days.
I noticed the following comment:
The web is already full of crap and you-Hubpages- are only asking for MORE crap by doing this!!
So true but:
Fifty percent of all advertizing we do is a total waste of money
The above statement was said by the chirman of Proctor and Gambels at a time when they were the biggest advertiser's in the world.
He continued, "Unfortunately we don't know which half works and which does not."
The same is true of blogs ans web sites in general. I'll be the first to admit that perhaps ninety percent of all I write is total crap. However, my writing teachers have told me some of my writing is good (gems in the rough I was told).
My problem is that more often than not I don't know what part of my writing is crap and what may be good.
So I for one write a lot and hopfully am improving my writing.
One great way to improve your writing is:
Take risks in your writing - Experiment
I recently suggested you develop your own writing style. A question is how to that.
Reminds me of the little kid with a violin who asked a policeman in Manhattan, "Please sir, how can get to Carnegie Hall?"
The policeman replied, "Practice, practice, practice!"
It's the same way about your writing. That's why I for one accepted this challenge. It is an artificial way to force me produce a huge amount of content in the next thirty days.
I know by the end of the thirty days my writing will have improved and most importantly I'll learn ways to produce content (preferably relevant quality material) faster.
And yest a good proprtion of the one hundrd Hubs may be crap but I for one as the writer do not know which. Yur coments, the statistics, and clicks to my own websites will let me know which were successful and which were a waste of time.
This is a good experiment and I'm glad to be part of it.
Experiment in many aspects of your life
An employee asked Watson (the original chairman of IBM who left NCR and made IBM to one of the largest companies in the world), "How can I double my successes?"
The business genius replied, "Double the number of your failures."
And now for the tiny crass commercialism: I just posted an article in my photo tips blog about experimenting in photography - please go there if you enjoy photography.
