Wouldn't you love to spend a coupla weeks hanging out by this beach? That's Pacific Beach, in San Diego, and if you want to literally live on the beach, so you can get up in the morning and step out of your room and into the sand, then you're looking for the Beach Haven Inn.
Sure, there's more swanky resorts and hotels on the beach, but can you afford to stay in one of those luxe hotels for a couple of weeks? If you can afford it, then you can stop reading right now.
But if you get the hiccups at the very thought of shelling out hundreds of dollars per day on a hotel room for 2 weeks, plus the add-ons and meals and stuff - then here's a list of extended stay budget San Diego motels, where you can live on a fraction of what you'd otherwise spend.
Let's start with the aforementioned Beach Haven Inn, located 1 block from the Pacific Ocean and 10 minutes' walk to Crystal Pier. It's perfect for sun worshippers, surfing enthusiasts who really want to master the art by dint of spending more time on the waves than on dry land, and of course for those live for the boardwalk - roller-blading, cycling, jogging by day and merriment after teh sun goes down with 3 miles of restaurants, nightclubs and shops with a full frontal view of the Pacific.
It's a great life. And the best part is that you can totally afford it with the Beach Haven Inn, which offers cheap rates for rooms with 2 Queen beds, bathroom with bath/shower combination, cable TV, and air conditioning. Or a 1 bedroom suite with 1 King bed and fully equipped kitchenette. You also get free high speed internet in the lobby. More details here.
There's also the Pacific View Motel, located on Emerald Street, right on the beach. If you're looking for the best and sweetest spot to enjoy the San Diego beaches, it does not get better than this - The Pacific View Motel is right slam-bang in the middle of all the Ocean Blvd party action.
You can spend all day surfing, sun-bathing, walking, cycling and roller-blading on the Pacific Beach Boardwalk, and enjoy the awesome natural beauty of the Pacific Ocean from Crystal Pier.
You get your choice of single bed rooms, twin rooms, oceanfront view rooms and a large apartment suite suitable for large groups and families. Many of the rooms have kitchenettes with refridgerator, freezer, microwave, stove and oven. More details here.

Yet another great option for an extended beach vacation in San Diego is the California Suites Hotel, which offers vacation rentals with special rates for extended stays (weekly/monthly).
And provides even more value to boot, with parking, an outdoor swimming pool, spa tub, complimentary breakfast buffet, maid service, laundry facilities and a safe-deposit box.
All rooms are equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, and table and chairs. You can have cribs, rollaway beds, iron & board on request, if you need them. More details here.
And if you're really, really serious about having a fun-tastic summer in San Diego, then you want to plan ahead - maybe a year or 2, in advance. If, that is, you want a cottage at the Crystal Pier Hotel.
You'll be on the beach, and some of the cottages are actually off the beach, overlooking the ocean on the edge of the pier - you cannot get digs closer to the Pacific, unless you're living on a boat.
If you're looking for a low-budget weekend or a 3 day trip, then you might also want to consider the Ocean Beach Hotel.
