Some extra money always comes in handy, and the beauty of making money from your photography is the fact that there is practically no financial outlay. All you need is a camera, a passion for taking photo's and as much time as you decide to put into your new project.  NO, you dont need to be a professional photographer, just some good old fashioned imagination and a camera!!

I would have to assume that almost everyone will have a digital camera in this day and age. Gone are the days of film cameras and darkrooms, processing the film -that is so old school! Digital cameras come in all shapes and specifications, but if you want to start making money with your camera, you will need to at least have a 5 megapixel camera at least, the more megapixel's in the camera, the better the photo, as it will have more information in it.

There is a multitude of photography sites out there! Most are free, just sign up and submit a you best images. Some site do have guidelines on what type of images they are after, so it may be a good idea to check out their site first before uploading. Make sure your images are the correct format and size, first impressions will make a difference.

Again this depends on a couple of things.

1. How many images you upload. If you only have 20 images, you are not going to be able to retire in the near future. Build a portfolio of images, add more image every week, and slowly but surely your income stream will increase.

2. Take a look on The Stock websites, they usually have a list of what type of photo they need and what will sell more.

3. Think outside the square. Anyone can take a photo of a bowl of fruit, a ball or a smiling face, you need to be original. Have some fun with it, hey dress your dog up to look like a superdog and take some snapshots - the big things is to do something different.

Depending on which site you sell your images, your profit will be different.  You may only get 20 cents per image at some sites. But do the math. Say one of your images gets downloaded 100 times, well that equals $20, multiply that by another 10 of your images - $200, getting the picture? Having a look at one of the stock photography sites, the top download for one photo was over 2000 downloads!
