Extreme Weight Loss
48No doubt. There are extreme weight loss techniques out there, which will help you lose weight. If you are looking for extreme weight loss techniques, my guess is that you are looking for something, which will help you shed the weight really fast. Unfortunately, there is no weight loss technique, which will result in lightning fast results. Regardless, here are some options for losing weight...
Diet pills are not the magic bullets, which you might think they are. Fact is, if you want to lose weight, you’re going to have to work for it by exercising. In fact, even the manufacturers of the pills will tell you that they should be taken along with exercise to see some results. Diet pills come in two forms, appetite suppressants and fat inhibitors (which block your body from absorbing fat). Aside from the fact that these diet pills will only marginally cut down your weight (around 15 pounds in a year), they have many side effects including insomnia, headaches, and higher blood pressure. Furthermore, you can get addicted to these drugs. If diet pills don’t lead to extreme weight loss, what about weight loss surgery?
There are many types of weight loss surgery available. Gastric banding is when an inflatable silicon band is placed above the stomach. Although you won’t lose as much weight as you would with a typical bypass surgery, gastric banding is less invasive and reversible in that the band can be removed. Patients typically lose 1 or 2 pounds a week following this surgery.
By far the most extreme weight loss method available is gastric bypass (GBP) surgery. Although there are many types of GBP, all of them decrease the size of the stomach to around 10% of its original size. On average people end up losing a little over half their excess fat with this surgery. Because GBP has more complications than gastric banding, this surgery is intended only for those who have tried to lose weight before with other techniques and have failed.
Keep in mind that weight loss surgery is only intended for the obese, not the overweight. As such, exercise and diet are your only options to lose weight if you are not obese. Although Americans are very good at losing weight through dieting and exercise, we have a hard time keeping it off. Although you may want to lose weight now, if you engage in dieting or exercise which you know you can’t keep doing, go for something less extreme so that you can sustain the weight loss for the rest of your life.
One exercise technique, which I have personally used, is High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). I lost 20 pounds in one and a half months using HIIT after I read the information in the above link (no, I’m not trying to make money by sending you to this link). Although this may sound like a great program, each HIIT session is very intense and not your average “6 miles per hour on a treadmill” type of exercise. Why is HIIT so effective? When you run or jog or swim at a consistent rate, your body starts conserving fat. If you max out in intervals, with each maxed out interval followed by an easy jog or rest, you’ll lose a lot of weight. The best part about this program is that you only need to exercise around 3 times a week for 15 or so minutes per day. You don’t have to religiously follow the program outlined in the link. The key is to give it your all in intervals, rather than exercising at a constant rate.
No, I'm not some fitness maniac or guru because I lost 20 pounds in such a short time using HIIT. This was several years ago. Originally my plan was to lose 5 or so pounds. A month into the program my mom tells me how skinny I am. I didn't notice how much weight I had lost because I never went on a scale! Although this may seem like great news, I actually lost too much weight. The point I'm trying to make is that you should monitor your progress. Otherwise, you'll soon be blown over by the wind!
I hope you get some extreme weight loss accomplished. Good luck!
