5. Growths. Protuberance that goes from one side of the eye to the cornea (central part of the eye). This is caused by the air, dust, and sun or by the effects of light produced by electric or arc welding.

Treatment: Before going to bed put 2 drops of aloe vera extract in the eye. Continue this every 6hours. (Do not be surprised if there is more discharge than usual in the morning.) Do this for several days until the outgrowth diminishes. Also take 2 tablets daily of Beta Carotene.

6. A Hemorrhage in the white part of the eye. This problems may occur after straining oneself by lifting something heavy, coughing forcefully, going to the bathroom when constipated or receiving a light blow to the eye. This problem is produced when a small vessel in the eye bursts. It generally isn't dangerous and its effect disappears in a few days.

Treatment: It helps to use 2 drops of aloe vera extract every 4 hours because it helps reduce inflammation and heal the eye. Consult physician.

7. Cataract. This is a condition in which the lens of the eye becomes cloudy or opaque. It becomes difficult to focus on objects and things seem dark to the person. The whitish or opaque appearance indicates a change in the lens fibers. It is similar to the change in color of an egg white when it is cooked.

Symptoms : Progressive loss of vision, no pain but some sensitivity to light. Sometime you can see a radiance around points of light.

The most common causes are :

  1. Diabetes and a combination of drinking large quantities of milk and not being able to process galactose, which is a sugar abundant in milk.
  2. Deposit of calcium and cholesterol in the capillaries of the eyes which reduce blood circulation to the eyes.
  3. They can also be caused by a blow or injury to the eye, and inadequate nutrition.
  4. Too much sun tanning can cause cataracts since the sun's ultraviolet rays cloud the crystalline lens causing opacity of the lens. The effect light produces on the lens is similar to that of heating egg white, it becomes opaque. Cataracts also seem to be part of the normal aging process. Also, exposure to X-rays can cause them.

Treatment :

  • Consist of taking Vitamin A, (Beta-Carotene), C and B2 (Riboflavin). The principal antioxidants in the lens of the eye are Vitamin C and E. Both are needed to activate glutathione. (Glutathione is a protein fragment which protects the eye from damage produced by free radicals.) It has been found that the absence of these vitamins encourages the growth of cataracts.
  • It is also important to maintain an adequate (not excessive) amount of calcium, vitamins B5 and E, Selenium and Zinc.
  • It has been found that cleansing the eyes with extract activator of aloe Vera improves vision and helps in the elimination of cataracts.

8. Black Eyes. Most effective remedy is: Apply a bag of crushed ice on the area for 10mins every 2 hours. If this hemorrhage causes pain or if the vision clouds, consult your physician.

The Best Treatment to maintain healthy eyes is:

Adequate nutrition which includes Vitamins A (Beta Carotene), B complex, C, E and proteins. In addition to this it is important to have good lighting when you are reading or using your eyes for extended periods of time.

A lack of vitamin A will cause: tired eyes, a sensitivity to the light, a lack of moisture in the eye, a susceptibility to the infection as well as night blindness which causes an ability to infections a well s night blindness which causes an inability to see in the little light. These symptoms are painless. This vitamin is found in dark green and yellow vegetables, in orange vegetables like raw carrots, in dairy products, fish and spinach. Vitamin A is mainly responsible for the visual purple which helps in the ocular adjustment to light changes.

The presence of vitamins C and E as well a vitamin B2 and Niacin (which are part of B-complex vitamins) prevent ocular and retina hemorrhages. They also strengthen the eye against infections.

They help fight eye arteriosclerosis and together with Vitamin E prevent detachment of the retina (amino retinae) and strengthen the ocular muscles which produce squinting and double vision.... Back to first page
