FIGHTING FOR OUR LIVES - Chapter 17
49CHAPTER 17 - SWORN VENDETTA
In May 1974, Thomas had already figured how and in what way we would have our revenge. The plan called for some of us to join the two gangs for evidence and for their weaknesses and then take them out. We would be split into three groups, two joining the gangs and the third stayed on the outside as backup in case something goes wrong and we needed to get out fast.
Thomas had Michael, Dawnelle, Ruby, and Larry join the Austin Stingers and Charles, James, Tammy and Jane joined the Texas Spiders. Thomas, Timothy, Betty, Ann, Dale and myself stayed out as backup. Thomas planned to use Dale and myself in the final stage of revenge because we were the youngest and might get away with it if we got caught. They fought their way through the gang initiations and soon proved themselves to wear the gangs colors. We now hope that within a month, we would have enough information and evidence to prove they were responsible for Douglas’s death.
A month had gone by and we had very little evidence, not enough to prove they were responsible so we had to keep going. It would only be a matter of time before we can take them out and move on in regards to Beannie’s death.
June and July 1974 brought enough proof, such as tape recordings of the two gangs bragging about the drive by and of who actually pulled the triggers in the shooting. We knew that it was not allowed in court, it would be enough to show why we did what we were going to do and that was to be the Judge, Jury and the Executioner and that we had already found the two gangs guilty and were sentenced to death.
In a meeting, between all of us, Thomas explained what was going to be done and that Dale and myself will do it because we are the youngest. And can get away from the area a lot easier than our older siblings, and get away with it in the eyes of the law if we got caught. Everyone else would be long gone, with solid alibis.
Soon, everyone gradually dropped out of the two gangs and all the tape recordings were given to Betty. She labeled them as to dates, who was talking and which gangs they belonged to. She placed them into a box, sealed it and addressed it to the local police department and mailed it. There were 28 members of the Stingers, 26 members of the Spiders. The Stingers had their hangout in an old house with a basement and the Spiders had an old school bus that they used. That was a total of 54 members responsible for Douglas’s death and it was on Dale and myself to make sure justice was served and carried out.
Thomas and Timothy had prepared two sets of explosives that will be used against the two gangs. The first set of explosives was to be placed in the basement of the Stingers by Dale and myself.
Once it was verified that the Stingers were out, Dale and I went in and wired up the basement with the explosive package and set the timer for 9:45 p.m. While we were doing this, Thomas and Timothy prepared the second set of explosives that will be wired to the bus. When Dale and I returned, we took the second package and headed out to where the bus was parked. Once we confirmed no one was there, I went up underneath the bus and began wiring the explosives into the fuel tank and set the timer for 9:40 p.m.
We went back to Thomas and he gave me an oblong black case that held a modified 30.06 rifle with a sniper scope. Dale and I left and headed out to the final stages of the plan. Everyone else left and went home. Dale and I were now alone. We finally got to where we needed to be and went up to the third floor of a building that was across the street from the Spider’s hangout, giving me a downward angle, enough to see the party. It was now 9:00 p.m. I still had some time to wait. I opened up the case and set up the rifle and tripod, it was modified to clamp down on the windowsill, so I fastened it down and mounted the rifle to it. I slipped the clip in and look out the scope and pointed it to where I would be shooting.
I got up and walked around. Dale went downstairs to look around and came back up after a few minutes. I kept watching the guys partying like nothing was wrong. I could not understand that. In my mind, they were wrong by killing Douglas and I was in the right in extracting a severe price for what they did.
At 9:28 p.m., I looked through the scope and saw the seven Spiders at the party, with their colors on. At 9:30 p.m., I began shooting until the seven were down, 4 were instantly killed and the other three died later from their wounds. It had only took me about 3 minutes.
At 9:35 p.m., Dale and I went down the street and threw a brick into the window with a note on it. It said “This is Dale, the guy you looking for, find me at the Stingers, where I hang with. If you want me so bad, come get me. Your buddies at the party are dead, thanks to Me.” tied to it. We ran like hell. As we headed to our safe place to be picked up later by Thomas, I saw on my watch it was now 9:38 p.m. I heard the bus leaving about a minute ago. We knew the Spiders were on the bus and smiled because it would soon be a bus ride to hell in a few minutes.
When we got to the safe place, we found 2 mini bikes with a note on it from Thomas, saying use these to come home. We hopped on and started for home, where we had more to do, in regards to Beanie’s revenge.
At 9:40 p.m., the bus exploded killing all aboard At 9:45 p.m., the basement explosives went off, blowing up the house, killing all 28 members, the night of revenge cost a total of 54 lives.
