FM Static is Back

Summer is right around the corner. It's time to pull out the swimsuits and sun block. Everyone is looking forward to long days by the pool, barbecues by the lake, and late night drives with the windows down. What makes summer even better? Music! FM Static is back with a new album, Critically Ashamed, and their goal is to be the first CD you grab when thoughts of summer fill your mind.

FM Static's new album, Critically Ashamed, came out in August of 2006. I have been a huge fan of FMS for awhile and had no idea they were coming out with a new album until I read about it in the March/April 2007 edition of Campus Life's Ignite Your Faith.

FMS is a pop/punk Christian band from Toronto, Canada. Band members, Trevor McNevan, vocals, and Steve Augustine, drummer started FMS as a side project to their other band, Thousand Foot Krutch.

FMS has been criticized by some because the lyrics to their songs are lighthearted and do not seem to have much of a God-centered focus. However, I believe there is a deeper message in the words of their songs. FMS is sending their listeners a message of the emptiness in popularity and fame; they also portray the innocence of young love and relationships, something our society has veered far from.

This album takes a slower turn in contrast with their first album. FMS has not turned completely away from their fun side, but this album has a more serious tone that can be very inspiring if given the chance.
