These coloring pages of American Sign Language, which is the main method of communication for the deaf community in the United States are meant help teachers introduce ASL to their students. These coloring sheets should be helpful to people in Europe and much of the rest of the world as well due to the universal nature of American Sign Lanugage. The FREE DOWNLOAD ability of these webpages makes saving these colouring sheets is very easy to perform. This system of hand signals used in order to spell out words or indicate meanings of phrases has been utilized by deaf persons in Europe since the early 17th century.

Different countries imprinted their own culture and slang on to sign language used in that country or region. As English became one of the world's dominant languages ASL also evovled as a standard for use by the deaf around the world.

Several of our readers have asked us to put together coloring pages or coloring sheets that they can use to teach students, both hearing impaired and other students and teachers the basics of American sign language. These line drawings are made in order to show what the correct hand signal for each of the alphabet letters used in American Sign Language. This particular hub page is for the letters A through E. Coloring these line drawing sheets students will find it easier to remember what each of the letters of the alphabet look like in American Sign Language.
