Over 200 Million Users on Facebook

Can you believe that? Facebook is known as the Google of Social Media and they should. It is an awesome place to meet people from all walks of life and all areas of the globe...it's just AMAZING!

According to Alexa.com, which tracks the top websites in the world, Facebook is #3 only behind Google and Yahoo. That's some pretty good company.

So what?...you may ask yourself. Well if you are in any kind of a business...from an internet entrepreneur to a home town pizza place, you can build up a huge following all for FREE. So if you are not spending even 15 min. a day meeting new people and building relationships...you are really missing out.

I want to give you a quick Facebook Training on some of the simple things you can build some great relationships.

Let's Talk About How to Find Friends...

Obviously the whole point to hanging out on Facebook, whether business related or not, is to find friends. Some of them are going to be like you and others you will have nothing in common but it is still a potential sale or client...you never know.

So let's look at some Basic Facebook Etiquette:

  1. Send a Personal Message: I hate it when I go to my "friend requests" and see that I have anywhere from 2 to 10 people asking to be my friend. Let's just say for this example it's 10. Out of them, I will have at most 2 send me some sort of personal message while asking to be my friend. (It's kind of like this...you go to a party and just meet someone. You're both standing there and all of a sudden they ask to borrow your keys. You've never spoken before...but for some reason they think it's ok to go ahead and ask.) Do you see what I mean, it's like a slap in the face.
  2. Write Nice and Encouraging Messages: Whether you are writing a personal message to a possible NEW friend or going to the wall of an old friend...write something that will make them feel good. Tell them you like their pictures or they have a cool website...anything to compliment them. People love to be complimented.
  3. Ask Questions: Let's go back to the party scenario...what do you think when you meet a new person and all they do is talk about themselves the WHOLE time. All you wanna do is run, right? Well that's what's is like when you throw information out before you've even gotten the chance to get to know each other. So one of the best ways to get to know someone is to ask questions about themselves. For example, when I've just met someone new I'll ask them what it is that they do? Nice, simple and sweet.
  4. Jump In On Other Conversations: Here is the one place where you can jump in any time. There are conversations that happen all over the place all the time. Jump in and put your 2 cents in. Most the time others like the interaction as well and you'll see great things come of it.

Those are just some easy things you can do to get started but if you want to some detailed training tips, watch this Facebook Training Video.
