Facial liposuction plastic surgery is a procedure in which excess fat is removed from the face especially from under the chin using a suction device. This excess fat is that fat which normally doesn’t respond to dieting and exercising. Facial liposuction is also called submental or submentum liposuction. Excess fat deposits, especially around the neck, chin, and cheeks are a common problem now days. Many people are found to have that excess fat tissue in their face which makes them look overweight, older, or just less balanced and attractive.

Facial liposuction is a procedure that offers a simple and effective solution to this problem. This procedure takes care of the following appearances:

  • Sagging jowls
  • Double chin
  • Bags beneath the eyes
  • Heavy, worn upper eye area
  • Excess fat around the neck

Facial liposuction or facial lipoplasty is a plastic surgery technique that is used to vacuum fatty deposits from the cheeks, chin, neck or jaw line. It is particularly effective for removing jowls or a double chin. Before the invention of liposuction, the plastic surgery procedures were very complicated, invasive and painful. The surgeons had to make long incisions under the neck and even the outcome was not perfect. It also used to take a long time to recover from those surgeries. But the situation has improved many times now. Using liposuction and ultrasound techniques, the surgery is least painful, very short, few incisions and very fast recovery. Those are the reasons due to which facial liposuction has become very popular all over the world.

There are a few types of facial liposuction surgeries. These are called dry, wet, superwet and ultrasound facial liposuctions. In dry facial liposuction, the body is not flushed out with fluids and the fat is simply removed from the tissues by prodding the cannula through incisions. This is a traditional type of liposuction and it is recommended for people with heart problems or other lung diseases since it is less traumatic.

Wet facial liposuction involves the injection of a fluid that contains blood-inhibiting compounds. Superwet is similar to wet liposuctions except that this type of procedure is done on those who are combining the facial liposuction along with a facelift and face contouring. In wet method, the cannula is inserted through a tiny incision placed in an inconspicuous location on the face or neck. Using a suction syringe or pump attached to the cannula, the fat cells are extracted.

Ultrasound liposuction technique is a modified version of a superwet liposuction method. This is a fast procedure since the fat cells are liquefied before extracted from the body using a special type of cannula which vibrates at a very high frequency.

There are various side effects and risks associated with facial liposuction though they are not severe. Therefore, you should be aware of side effects and risks before you decide to have any of these procedures done on your face. These include risk of bleeding out, infection, embolisms, cardiac arrhythmia, edema, necrotizing fasciitis, deadening of the nerves, puncture wounds and of course scarring. Apart from these there may be some other side effects for each of the surgery types lie wet, superwet, dry or ultrasound.

These side effects can be very irritating and frustrating at time. The only way you can minimize these side effects is to choose an experienced and qualified surgeon for your facial liposuction plastic surgery. Facial liposuction cost should not be the only criteria for you to choose the surgeon. Always research, check out facial liposuction before and after photos, and background checking of the surgeon before finalizing him. Internet is a good resource where you can find reviews about all surgeons who specialize in facial liposuction.
