Depending on whether you are male or female, the idea of facial hair removal will be expected or unexpected. For those who expect to have to do so, the process is usually a daily one. For those who feel like the unexpected, (sometimes unacceptable) is happening to them, the procedure can be inconceivable. Either way, facial hair removal methods for men and women can be considered routine.

It can be a difficult task when it comes to finding the best method of facial hair removal for women. On one hand, most women don't even want to consider having to deal with facial hair removal because they are in fact, women. Unfortunately, statistics show that approximately 10% of women will or do have problems with facial hair. Whether that is due in part to a woman's genetic make up or medical problems, depends on each individual woman. Nonetheless, most women with facial hair seek the same outcome: what facial hair removal methods are there for women?

Temporary Facial Hair Removal Methods

The most familiar facial hair removal methods for women are inexpensive. Although inexpensive may be important to most, an unfortunate consequence of inexpensive facial hair removal is that they are usually temporary. These inexpensive methods include plucking, waxing, and shaving, to name a few. Each of these methods can be done by the person seeking to remove their facial hair. Specifically, waxing and shaving are better known while using familiar products on the market such as Nair, Sally Hansen Express Wax Hair Removal Kit for Face & Body, Gillette, or electric razors. Usually products such as Nair and Sally Hansen Waxes are what most women use for facial hair removal, although now, due to the disparities in facial hair particular to each woman, some may find it necessary to use razors depending on the amount of facial hair they encounter.

Plucking

Plucking is as simple as using a tweezers to individually remove unwanted hair from the face. The method of plucking is facial hair removal for men and facial hair removal for women. Unfortunately, all of the more popular and less expensive means can be time consuming (especially plucking) Not only do waxing, shaving and plucking take some time to achieve a desired outcome, they are temporary, and therefore have to be repeated every 3-4 weeks for plucking and 2-4 days for waxing or shaving, depending on the product one chooses to use.

Longer Lasting Facial Hair Removal Methods

Some expensive methods used for facial hair removal include lasers, depilatories, or electrolysis. Although expensive in nature, the aforementioned procedures do come with the benefit of longer lasting removal of hair from the face. These methods are also procedures that take place in a doctor's office. Since, men as well, consider unwanted hair to be unmentionable, these procedures can be used by either males or females.

Laser Hair Removal

When laser hair removal is the chosen procedure, light is released at different pulse widths, wavelengths, and energy outputs. In doing this, the laser burns the hair follicles causing the re-growth of hair to be slowed. Although hair re-growth is slower, this procedure does not constitute permanent hair removal.

Depilatories

Depilatories melt hair away with the use of different chemicals. These chemicals include thioglycolate which can be mixed with sodium hydroxide or other chemicals depending whichever the doctor chooses. After depilatories are tested on a small area of the skin to see how the patient will react, it is then put on a larger area for such procedures as facial hair removal. After depilatories are on the skin for approximately 3 - 15 minutes (again depending on the patient) it is then removed leaving the skin very smooth and hair free. Although this procedure is beneficial to certain individuals, one should know that facial hair removal usually lasts anywhere from a few days to 2 weeks.

Electrolysis Hair Removal

Electrolysis may have the outcome that either women or men desiring facial hair removal look for, but it is a procedure that is time consuming. Electrolysis consists of a needle treating each individual hair follicle and burning it at its root. Although the results are permanent the amount of time to get to that permanent facial hair removal could take upwards of 18 months of repeated treatments.

Whether a man or woman, there are plenty of facial hair removal methods allotted to you if when choosing a procedure. One can turn to a doctor, chemicals, or non-evasive alternatives when considering facial hair removal. Either permanent or temporary, pricey or inexpensive, painful or painless, the facial hair removal choice is yours to make.
