Before this rainy season Makueni was hit by a horrible famine. People we drying because they did not have enough to eat. Children got malnutrition from lake of a proper diet. The rain were short and some places did not even get a drop of rain water for two seasons.

The whole of Kenya was in a mess. Water and Power shortages were the norm at this time. people were even lucky to have enough water to water their animals. Women in Makueni started trading in their goods so as to get food for their children. Others just left their families and their were about were unknown.

At the midst of this crisis a group of women in America decided to help the local community by providing them with food. These women are either daughters or daughters in-law of Makueni. The group of Ladies did a wonderful act to help their home land.

With limited resources Makueni Sisters organized a fundraiser and raised over $5,000. True to their cause all this money was sent to buy Maize and maize meal to close to 400 families who had no food and limited or no income. In addition the help the local bible school Makueni Multiple Bible School. This gave food to pastors in training.
