This hub is fun and interesting for me because...I'M AN OKLAHOMAN! As I did the research for this article I learned a lot that I didn't know...such as Brad Pitt's hometown is just about 25 minutes from my front door! Some things I already knew, such as the Hornet's are based in Oklahoma City also about 25 minutes from my front door - except in the opposite direction.

I am part Cherokee so my roots are probably found in the very soil of this great state. How many Native Oklahomans are reading this? Please let me know in the comment box below. If I missed someone, by all means feel free to share!

Graduated high school at Oologah. Will Rogers was many things including a diplomat, statesman, quite a horseman who loved Polo. He always told everybody that he was from Claremore (10 miles from Oologah) because nobody could pronounce Oologah. He was also half cherokee like you. I loved your post, I grew up in a town even smaller than Oologah 5 miles north. Talala, OK thanks for the great post fellow okie.

Frogyfish: While Wiley Post was not BORN in Oklahoma, he was an Oklahoman. He and his family moved to Oklahoma when he was age 11. He saw his first airplane in Oklahoma at an air show. After he became a pilot, he met Will Rogers and flew him to a rodeo that he needed to attend.
