Hal Roach, Sr. was born January 14, 1892 – November 2, 1992 in Elmira, New York..He was an American film and television producer from the 1910s to the 1980s. Roach began working as an extra in silent film. Upon coming into an inheritance, he began producing short comedies in 1915 with his friend Harold Lloyd, who portrayed a character known as "Lonesome Luke."Roach released his films through Pathé until 1927, when he went to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. He would change again in 1938 to United Artists. He converted his silent movie studio to sound in 1928 and began releasing talking shorts early in 1929.At age 92, he was presented with an honorary Academy Award. In the spring of 1992, not long after his 100th birthday, Roach once again appeared at the Academy Awards ceremony, hosted by Billy Crystal. When Mr. Roach rose from the audience to speak during the ceremony, the sound system did not pick up his words. Albert Schweitzer, M.D., OM, was born January 14, 1875 – September 4, 1965 in Kaisersberg in Alsace-Lorraine..He was an Alsatian theologian, musician, philosopher, and physician..In 1899, at University of Tübingen, he published his memoir entitled The religious Phylosophia of Kant, which earned him his Ph.D. Later, he became pastor at the church Saint-Nicolas of Strasbourg, where he officiated at the wedding of Theodor Heuss on April 11, 1908. At the age of 30, in 1905, he answered the call of "The Society Of The Evangelist Missions of Paris" who were looking for a Medical Doctor. He began his medical studies and eventually left Alsace for the Gabon (which was French at that time).Schweitzer was a famous organist in his day and was highly interested in the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. He developed a simple style of performance, which he thought to be closer to what Bach had meant it to be. Schweitzer died on September 4, 1965 at his beloved hospital in Lambaréné, Gabon. His grave, on the banks of the Ogooue River, is marked by a cross he made himself.

Benedict Arnold V was born January 14, 1741 – June 14, 1801 in Norwich, Connecticut..He originally fought for American independence from the British Empire as a general in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War and was considered by many to be the best general and most accomplished leader in the Continental Army. In fact, without Arnold's earlier contributions to the American cause, the American Revolution might well have been lost; but after he switched sides his name, like those of several other prominent traitors throughout history, has become a byword for treason in the United States.In 1762, with the help of the Lathrops, Arnold established himself in business as a pharmacist and bookseller in New Haven, Connecticut.Arnold fought a duel in Honduras with a British sea captain who had called him a "d--d Yankee, destitute of good manners or those of a gentleman".
