Colette was born (January 28, 1873 – August 3, 1954 in Saint-Sauveur-en-Puisaye, She is best known, at least in the English-speaking world, for her novel Gigi, which provided the plot for a Lerner & Loewe musical film and stage musical.Colette took up work in the music halls of Paris, under the wing of Mathilde de Morny, the Marquise de Belbeuf, known as Missy, with whom she became romantically involved.... In 1907, the two performed together in a pantomime entitled Reve d'Egypte at the Moulin Rouge. Their onstage kiss nearly caused a riot, which the police were called in to suppress........When she died in Paris on August 3, 1954, she was given a state funeral, although she was refused Roman Catholic rites because of her divorce. Colette is interred in Le Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris.

Jackson Pollock was born January 28, 1912 – August 11, 1956 in Cody, Wyoming..He was an influential American painter and a major force in the abstract expressionist movement...During his early life, he experienced Indian culture while on surveying trips with his father... In 1929, following his brother Charles, he moved to New York City, where they both studied under Thomas Hart Benton at the Art Students League of New York. He made his debut in Berlin in 1900, followed by appearances in Germany and Poland and further study with Karl Heinrich Barth. In 1904, he went to Paris, where he met the composers Maurice Ravel, Paul Dukas, and the violinist Jacques Thibaud..Although best known as a recitalist and concerto soloist, Rubinstein was also considered an outstanding chamber musician, partnering with such luminaries as Henryk Szeryng, Jascha Heifetz, Gregor Piatigorsky, and the Guarneri Quartet. Rubinstein was fluent in eight languages. His photographic memory of much of the repertoire, not simply that of the piano, was formidable......Rubinstein died in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1982 at age 95. On December 20, 1983, first anniversary of his death, an urn holding his ashes was buried in Israel..
