Eddie Bracken was born February 7, 1915 - November 14, 2002 in Astoria, New York...He was an American actor...At the age of nine he performed in vaudeville and gained fame on Broadway in the musical Too Many Girls in a role he reprised in the film version in 1940. He had performed in a short film series called The Kiddie Troupers (one of many Our Gang-like series) prior to that, but this film was his big break.....In 1936, Bracken pursued success on Broadway with his starring run in the Joseph Viertel play So Proudly We Hail. The military drama co-starred Richard Cromwell and opened to much fanfare, but closed after 14 performances..In 1953, Bracken left Hollywood. He then appeared on Broadway in Shinbone Alley, Hello, Dolly!, The Odd Couple, and Sugar Babies......He died in Montclair, New Jersey of complications from (undisclosed) surgery at the age of 87. For his contribution to radio, Eddie Bracken has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 1651 Vine Street and a second star at 6751 Hollywood Blvd. for his contribution to the television industry.

Buster Crabbe was born February 7, 1908 - April 23, 1983..He was an American athlete turned actor..He excelled as a swimmer and participated in two Olympic Games: 1928, where he won the bronze medal for the 1,500 meter freestyle, and 1932, where he won the gold medal for the 400 meter freestyle. In Hollywood Crabbe also starred at the Billy Rose Aquacade at the New York World's Fair in its second year of 1940, replacing Johnny Weismuller and in the 1933 Tarzan serial Tarzan the Fearless (also issued as a full length movie) launched a successful career in which he starred in over one hundred movies. Despite his numerous film and television appearances, he is best remembered today as one of the original action heroes of 1930s and 1940s cinema..He died on April 23, 1983, aged 75, from a heart attack in Scottsdale, Arizona and was buried in the Green Acres Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Sinclair Lewis was born February 7, 1885 - January 10, 1951 in the village of Sauk Centre, Minnesota..He was an American novelist, short-story writer, and playwright....Lewis's earliest published creative work -- romantic poetry and short sketches -- appeared in the Yale Courant and the Yale Literary Magazine, of which he became an editor.....In 1930 he became the first American to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, "for his vigorous and graphic art of description and his ability to create, with wit and humour, new types of characters"...After winning the Nobel Prize, Lewis would publish nine more novels in his lifetime, the best remembered being It Can't Happen Here, a novel about the election of a fascist U.S. President.....Lewis died in Rome on January 10, 1951, aged 65, from advanced alcoholism and is buried in the cemetery in Sauk Centre. A final novel, World So Wide, was published posthumously.

He was the foremost English novelist of the Victorian era, as well as a vigorous social campaigner.The 12-year-old Dickens began working ten hour days in a Warren's boot-blacking factory, located near the present Charing Cross railway station. He earned six shillings a week pasting labels on the jars of thick polish.....In May 1827, Dickens began work in the office of Ellis and Blackmore as a law clerk. This was a junior office position, but it came with the potential of helping him up to the Bar. It was here that he gained his detailed knowledge of the law and the poor's suffering at the hands of its many injustices, together with a loathing of inefficient bureaucracy which stayed with him for the rest his life. He showed his contempt for the lawyer's profession in his many literary works.The popularity of Dickens' novels and short stories has meant that not one has ever gone out of print.
