66Here is information from dermatologists on foods that are good for your skin and for reducing signs of aging.
a. Tahu - This is processed soy bean (often called Tofu) and is a substitue for mild. Tahu (tofu) decreases signs of aging. Women that take 50mg per day for one month show marked improvement in fine lines around their eyes and the pliability of their skin. When checked in scientific tests participants taking a placebo did not see any of the same improvements. Tahu comes in many types and forms. The more refined it is the more like a custard it becomes. Tahu can be fried, boiled, steamed and even grilled.
b. Eating less dairy products and sugar but more beans, vegetables and olive oil reduces wrinkling in persons older than sixty years of age.
c. Salmon - This fish is good for many things, including your skin. Dermatologists say that astaxanthin, an anti-oxidant found in Salmon and red sea plants contain significant amounts of skin friendly Salmon. It's one of those miracle foods that seems to be good for just about everything-and your skin is no exception. According to dermatologists, salmon (and red sea plants) contain a skin-friendly antioxidant called astaxanthin, which is more powerful than vitamin E and vitamin A.
d. Carrots - My grandmother always told me the best parts of carrots are in the skin (carrot peels) and now studies have proven that she was correct. Beta-carotene found in carrots, is good for your skin, as well as your eyes. If you cook the carrots, including the washed peels, and then puree them to put in soups they pass on to your body three times the levels of antioxidants than raw carrots.
e. Berries - Almost all "berries" container antioxidants that attract and neutralize free radicals. Berries with dark colors such as a deep purple in color, such as cranberries, elderberries, and black raspberries as well as blueberries and strawberries are especially good for your skin. Experts say that the same component that gives these berries their hue (a compound called anthocyanin) can also keep your skin looking radiant
f. Green Tea - Green Tea not only contains antioxidants, there are hospitals and researchers in California using extracts of green tea to put in salves and treatments for serious burn victims due to the amazing regenerative properties of Green Tea.
f. Broccoli - This vegetable keeps your skin elastic and seems to minimize the damage caused by UV rays from the sun. Broccoli, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts contain sulforaphane which help make the skin more elastic. Skin preparations containing extract of broccoli sprouts reduce inflammation and cell damage caused by UV radiation.Since eating health is good for you anyway - why not spend your money on foods that keep your skin and complexion looking younger, instead of spending money on expensive skin treatments and cosmetics.
* The strongest concentrations of antioxidants in vegetables and fruits are in the skin or peel * Preparing vegetables as puree for use in soups doubles the antioxidant benefit for your body.
