Being gay and having a normal family is Hard. With just the two of us it was pretty easy. We just carried on as any normal couple would. We never walked into a room and shouted we are gay. We didn't feel we had anything to prove. After all straight people don't go everywhere telling everyone they are straight. If anyone ask yes We told them the truth.
Our friends straight and gay all accepted us as MIke and Lynn couple period. I wanted kids from the time I was 20, which is the time Lynn and I met. At the time my knowledge of having kids was limited at best.Time rolled on and my parental urges became stronger and stronger. In my mid thirties I found the internet and some articles on surrogacy. About age 38 we had been through several online services that we found were out of our price range. So we applied to our local county cps office for foster care and adoption. Which we were laughed at to our face on the phone. We live in a small rural town of Tyler, Texas.
Discrimination is common place here to gays. AT work you have to tell little white lies to be accepted or else be made fun of and passed over for raises and whispered about in dark office corners. We found out that the county of Smith county social workers for the cps foster and adoption were not much better. We were told we were silly for even thinking we could adopt a normal child. Our hearts sank again another brick wall to turn back from.
So back to the internet again only this time I concentrated on Our own lifestyle community. To my suprise there were many lesbian couples looking for sperm donors or
men to be fathers to their future children.

 We started out by placing a classified add with several gay friendly online sites. Like out dot come or  surrogacy.com. We had many lesbian couples from enormous distances who were interested only because they knew they were to far for us to be part of the babys life. Then there were other couples who contacted us who were just did not meet our requirements. Then finally came the day when a couple that was just right contacted us. They only lived 100 miles away and were willing to come  relocated to Tyler in time. They had been together 10 years and were working and in stable relationship.  So the next step was to set up a meeting and get to know each other. So we set up  date to meet at our home in Tyler. The girls wanted to get out of Dallas for  a drive so insisted they come to us.  We all were so nervous  when we met we didnt know what to say. Fortunately I had compiled much research on artifitial insemination. So I was elected as Teacher. lol.  We went over what we all wanted in each other and typed it out and signed it . We had to trust them and they had to trust us it just made us all feel better to have it down in writing. We had all heard the horror storys of how things had gone  off course with other couples.  Finally we were down to the actual procedure , which me being a nurse helped . I explained that all you need is  very clean plastic container and an new sterile syringe. We used  an old medicine bottle  cleaned  with  dish soap and rinsed well.  The syringe I got from tractor supply store for pennies.  I also furnised them with an up to date Hiv test. I wanted to make sure they didnt have any worries.  So I ask the mother who was going to bear the child when she had ovulated and it just happened that she was exactly at the 10th day after her period which is the insemination date. So we decided what the heck why not give it a try. We were all giddy with anticipation. Me being a medical proffesional and Knowing that only 20 percent of the time it would take , I did not expect anything . The process is very simple considering what the doctors charge . lol  The donor just deposits his semen in the container then draws it up in the syringe. Be careful to keep everything as clean as possible.

Next takethe syringe and hand it off to the Intended mother and give her instructions to just insert the syringe into the vaginal tract as far in as the syringe will reach and push the plunger. The mother will then place pillows under her hips and lay with hips in the air for 30 min. Thats it.Then 15days later do a pregnancy test.  Since I did not expect anything I went on instructing them on how to figure out when the next time to inseminate would be.  To my suprise 10 days later

 i got a phone call informing me We were going to be parents YEs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On August 3 at 11 am we became the proud parents of  a bouncing baby boy.

Now three kids later. I wonder where I got the energy to do it all.
