Charlie's Angels original Farah Fawcett, her trademark tresses now shorn, iconic blonde beauty Farrah Fawcett continues to fight the fight of her life. The 62-year-old "Charlie's Angels" star shared her private battle with cancer in the two hour-documentary "Farrah's Story" that aired on NBC Friday night. Filmed primarily with Fawcett's own video camera with the help of friend Alana Stewart, the documentary chronicled the actress' efforts to beat her illness through experimental procedures in Germany and various doctor's visits. Fawcett appeared mostly upbeat and optimistic throughout the film, though footage also showed her bed-bound and looking fragile. One scene captured a recent moment between Fawcett and son Redmond O'Neal, who was released from jail briefly a few weeks ago so that he could visit his ailing mother. A heavily sedated Fawcett appeared to have difficulty recognizing her shackled son, and an emotional Redmond, broke down in tears while trying to coax her into identifying him.
Fawcett also revealed in the film that she was no longer sporting her signature golden locks. Fawcett made the decision to shave off her hair to her scalp as stress from her treatments began to take its toll. She said she would rather lose her hair by her own hand, than to cancer. "Farrah's Story" also featured appearances by Fawcett's longtime companion Ryan O'Neal and her former "Charlie's Angels'" co-stars Jacklyn Smith and Kate Jackson. Fawcett was hospitalized for a week last month, but is now said to be continuing her battle against her illness at the home she shares with O'Neal in Malibu, California.
After the hugely popular and highly emotional Farrah Fawcett documentary aired last week, the sick actress' partner says a sequel could be in the works. Fawcett's longtime partner Ryan O'Neal told NBC's "Today" show earlier this week that the network has ordered a follow-up to "Farrah's Story" that aired during primetime last Friday. He said, quote, "We haven't stopped filming, and we're going to make a second installment on her life eventually." Almost nine-million people tuned in to watch the story of the former Charlie's Angel battle cancer. The film was shot from her own video camera with the help of friend Alana Stewart. O'Neal went on to say Fawcett's pulse increased during the show as she watched her own story. He said, quote, "We have to now show her one of her films every night."
