Farrah Fawcett was everything a girl could want to be. Famous (a legend actually), beautiful, and that hair...that hair...how do you describe the perfection of her hair. I can remember growing up in New Jersey and watching Farrah on "Charlie's Angels". Her hair was everything every girl wanted their hair to be. Thick, long, feathered and big...it didn't get any better than Farrah.

Farrah was the influence of so much big hair in the 1980's. Her claim to fame in "Charlie's Angels" came in 1976, but it took us until the 80's to perfect the style. I remember everyone wanted to have "Farrah hair". Girls feathered, plumped and permed their hair to get the look. As this look took off it lead to even bigger and better hair.

It lead to the 1980's...and where better to live than New Jersey, home of the big hair. We had so many big hair styles. There was big long hair and big short hair. For special occasions we had big prom hair and big wedding hair. Bon Jovi, king of big celebrity hair, hailed from New Jersey. There was big bar hair, big city hair and like everyone else, the next morning we had big bad hair.

Farrah Fawcett was born February 2, 1947 in Corpus Christie, TX. She was voted "Most Beautiful" by her high school graduating class. She became a household name while acting in the TV series, "Charlie's Angels". She left the series because she felt it was frivolous and she wanted to be a serious actress.

Farrah's hard work and persistence made her dreams come true. She has been nominated at least 4 times for the Golden Globe award and at least three times for an Emmy. Her first Golden Globe nomination was for "Actress in a Leading Role - Drama". In 2003 she was inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame. Not bad for the girl who started out as Jill Monroe.

Farrah has been active in charity work against domestic violence. Her film, "The Burning Bed" in 1984 included a public service message by Farrah and a 1-800 number that women could call for help. This movie eventually led to at least three states changing their laws regarding domestic violence.

Vanna remained an American sweetheart throughout the 1980's. Vanna was "Barbie" come alive. Vanna was the girl who showed us all how to brandish an object on display without having any eyes leave the brandisher. We all know that famous Vanna stance.

She received the Red Cross Humanitarian Award in 1991 for her work with breast cancer awareness. She has been nominated 12 times for the Grammy Award and has won it 4 times.
