My Spider Friend and I
58Always on Time
Every Night at around 9:00 Eastern Time , I have a few visitors. The are spiders, I don't know what kind they are but they build large webs in the same place every night. In the morning they are gone. If you turn on the porch light, they run away so I can't watch them build their web but I check on them until I go to bed and they are the most beautiful, crafted, individual webs I have ever seen.
I have always been fascinated by Spider Webs. My mother has as well but we have never encountered a spider that looks like this or builds his web only at night, to be gone by dawn. The come in pacts of about three and build adjacent webs from one tree to the next, covering the entire left side of the front yard. I can't even imagine the brain of a spider and what cleverness and patience it takes to build a web. They are aways perfectly symmetrical.
I have absolutely no idea that kind of spider this is so if you know and it is poisonous, please do let me know!
When Darkness Approaches
I sit in patience
alone in the dark
a glmspe of a candle
just beneath my feet
I wait for my friend
as the sky goes to sleep
Soon She appears, she
waste no pricelss time
She begins to weave her web
her pliant legs in a rhyme
creating a silky pattern
methodically in line
making her trap for the victims
that finds a harness in the way
"Welcome to my Spider Web
Why don't you come and stay"

This is absolutely lovely! This reminds me of my bee visitor about a month or two ago, who just sat on a lone branch in the bushes beside my apartment door. He was there for at least a week, and my daughter and I named him biscuit. I wrote a hub about him - Biscuit the Drunken Bee - as to my hypothesis regarding why he remained stationery in that particular spot. It's amazing how one we can become with nature, just by observing their marvelous designs.
This is awesome Dori, I don't mind spiders as long as they don't bite me, or as long as I don't blindly walk into their webs. The good news is you don't have to decorate the outside of your house at Halloween time. Your spider friends will take care of that for you.
Yangtze,
thanks so much, I still don't know what kind of spider it is but it makes some awesome webs!

Awwwwwwwwww, I hate that feeling when you collide or hit this web in the dark!!! My whole body shivers... Specially when you hit it in the face... brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Shame,
Last week I walked through one on the back side of the house. If I had been a bug i would be history, it was in my hair, my mouth, even my eyebrows!
